Labradorite
Family: Feldspar
Geologists first identified the stone in 1770 in Labrador, Canada in which is where it got its name. Most Labradorite is still found in Labrador although rarer varieties can be found in Finland where they are called Spectrolite and display an intense range of the entire color spectrum. Because there are so many different stones in the Feldspar family and a lot of them are extremely similar differing by only one or two minerals it its commonly confused with other stones such as Moonstone, Larvikite, Albite and a few others although experts have confirmed that Labradorite is indeed its own stone with its own identity. It is usually found as a compact mass in igneous and metamorphic rocks and is rarely found as crystals. Iridescent labradorite is mainly found in ancient crystalline rocks that formed deep in the crust. Labradorite, possessing it’s own charms, is also part Feldspar and part Albite. Therefore the properties of all three of these minerals make up the magic that is Labradorite.
The tales say that the Northern Lights were once stuck inside the rocks on the Canadian Coast, until one day, a brave warrior hit the rocks with his spear to set them free; The rocks that were not hit still hold some of the Northern Lights inside them. Labradorite is said to represent the “Temple of the Stars”, It brings the light of other planetary beings to the heart and soul of the owner. The labradorescence is derived from extra-terrestrial origin, which is enclosed in the mineral to bring the galactic evolved energies from other worlds to the Earth Plane.
Golden Labradorite- This stone is believed to be amongst the most beneficial for your third chakra, bringing about an enhancement of your will, mental clarity and strength of purpose. It is often experienced as a very warming solar type of energy. It helps to calm your emotions through increased clarity of mind and to see the Divine pattern in your daily struggles. In dream work, it assists in consciously awakening in your higher planes and in bringing back important information. It also connects with the Great Central Sun, the home and origin of cousciousness in the Universe. In addition, to working with this stone in meditation and body layouts, it is highly recommended that this stone be worn in jewelry for consistent daily energy.
Spectrolite- Spectrolite is a rare variety of Labradorite. It has an iridescent exterior, known as labradorescence, displaying a full spectrum of colors. Spectrolite brings forth your strengths through the discovery of your originality. It emits this powerful light energy from planetary sources and beings. Spectrolite clears, balances, strengthens and then protects the Aura. It is use to help children express their authenticity.
Uses and Purposes:
Labradorite is said to ease feelings of depression, anxiety and hopelessness by transforming those feelings into self confidence, enthusiasm and inspiration.
It offers a deeper understanding of previously unidentified or misunderstood messages from one’s inner being.
Told also to be beneficial treating brain disorders, improving memory as well as alleviating bone issues, musculature complaints, and the wear and tear of one’s joints.
Elemental stone of Aquarius , Labradorite is also associated with the signs of Sagittarius, Scorpio, and Leo; said to be helpful in building courage one must have to confront the dragons of everyday.
The protective powers of labradorite stone protect the aura by creating an energy barrier. This barrier holds personal energy in and provides protection from people who would drain or tap into that personal energy.
It is especially useful in the upper chakras including the throat chakra, Third Eye chakra and crown chakra.
It enhances the mental and intuitive abilities of clairvoyance, telepathy, prophecy and coincidence control, and assists in communication with higher guides and spirits in accessing Akashic records, psychic readings and past-life recall.
