Her father has been harsh and even unloving to her ever since she started contests. He is obsessed with perfection and wants crystal to be ´perfect’. He’s so strict to the point crystal refuses to eat snacks (or food at times) people offer her and stopped asking for gifts because her dad kept on complaining about it. She feels the need to always be happy because there is not much else she can really do (until the Terapagos incident)
She rarely received hugs and when she wanted one, her dad just told her to use a blanket to comfort herself. She refuses help when others offer it because she sees herself as someone who is independent and doesn’t need anyone else…
Which, leads her to be temperamental towards people at times and even distancing herself from others
She has standards being chucked at her that she cannot slip up, or according to her father, she would lose everything she has worked for and start over
Her dad only noticed her for her contests… not crystal herself
