The Intriguing Dilemma Of A Love Dissertation || JJK FF
BLURB:
Amor Gomez is ambitious. A woman in the world of STEM ,climbing the ladder of scientific hierarchy, one research at a time. But amongst microscopes, lab coats , an already published dissertation that requires evidence and a departmental collaboration she finds herself colliding with Jungkook Jeon.
Avoiding the Chief Of Genetic Engineering should be easy but turns out its NOT. It's funny how he is everywhere. In her lab. In her cabin. In boardrooms. Leaning against doorframes. Amor really needs to focus on her newest problem. Finding evidence for her latest work. Doable. Except its not when tall , brooding Jeon only-business-no-bullshit Jungkook decides to be her test subject. Now she really needs to focus. Laboratories hold secrets beside instruments and science can't seem to explain why Amor finds herself drawn to the god of genetics.
"I have waited long enough Amor. I have been such a good guy", he whispers in your ears. Breath hitting every inch of your neck and heart, "But keep looking at me like that? And I'll have you writing dissertations on every single thought I have in the dark about you."

The last thing Amor Gomez wanted was to be seen by the six foot gigantic hulk of a man named Jungkook Jeon. So she did what any sane woman in her late twenties would do. She ran-or waddled, whichever sounded more ladylike- towards the main entrance of the central plaza.
The said man stood near her favourite tea stall, eyes wandering at the four'o clock crowd near the entrance, looking more like an MI agent than a man waiting for his tea.He analysed the crowd looking for a certain five foot two brunette.
It wasnt that hard. What Amor lacked in height, she made up for with her hair. Waves falling past the small of her back. Always dressed like an MUN candidate.
"Amor." She stilled. No really. It wasn't a question. Certainly not one laced with friendliness or doubt. It was a statement. Familiar. He had no doubt recognized her. She really needed to work on her survival skills. He seemed to be nearer now. His shadow looming in front of her. His body heat rolling off him and settling somewhere in the depth of her bones.
"Amor." she turned then.
"Hi!" Her mouth stretched into what seemed to be an attempt of a smile. If she wasn't being shady all this while, she definitely was now. He stepped closer, noticing how she squinted at him because of the sun behind. Heat crawled up her cheeks dusting them pink. She thought her neck would snap if he stepped even closer.
He tilted his head towards the plaza. Eyes still on her.
"What'd he say?" Amor sighed and looked down, grimacing at the chipped red polish on her toes that peeked out of her cream strapped flats. "He said he was busy...Especially with Ray's case you know? said he'd look into it soon."
That was true.
Atleast a part of it was.
She left out the exact words though. They'd left her scarred for the rest of her professional life. How was she supposed to say them?, "Don't fuck with me Amor. Those lawyers are still after my ass. I'll ask the council when I'm not knees deep in court fiasco." Ricardo had proceeded to flick his wrist at the door. Clearly a dismissal. And Amor hadn't wanted to tell Jungkook that.
Hadn't wanted to tell him that the medicinal discovery his team had achieved was currently being overlooked because a certain friend of hers in IT had thought it alright to hack into the city mayor's laptop. Hadn't wanted to face him and watch disappointment spread through his features. They'd clearly worked so hard. Endless days and sleepless nights in their lab.And when finally the hard work paid off, their patent rights were taking long to be processed.
She heard him hum and looked at him then. Really looked. He didn't seem disappointed. Didn't even look frustrated. His lips were drawn in a line like they usually were. Faint shadows tracing his tear trough. Eyes looking down at her with an intensity she'd only seen him use in his lab whenever she passed by. Handsome, she thought. So ridiculously handsome. All straight lines and sharp points.
His eyes seemed darker for some reason and for a second her heart went thump thump thump.
She had been doubtful. Why did he need to go through so much pain? Men like Jungkook Jeon, men with knowledge and power, men who held a top position didn't need to face so much screening. He didn't even have to ask her for help.
Jungkook knew it too. He knew he could walk into Ricardo's office right now and demand for his team's work to be enlisted first.Even better he could call up the panel and he would have the company papers at his desk by the next morning.
In here, he wasn't questioned. Wasn't ordered. He was well past that stage.
In here, he was respected. One of the best. NO, scratch that, he was the best. Chief Of Genetic Engineering wasn't just a title.
It was his name.
His work.
His passion for science.
Jeon Jungkook had his own wing at The Altruistic. That wasn't privilege. That was a result. A testament to his dedication and contribution to the world of STEM. But he hadn't wanted the privilege of having the patent ready so soon. There were probably fifty more requests. Fifty more discoveries. Fifty more teams or individuals who had worked equally hard to be able to file for patenting rights.
Jungkook wasn't down to earth. He just knew what it took to reach the position he currentlywas in. Knew what it took to wait for months before results showed. Knew the frustration and impatience simmering beneath his sternum every time an experiment failed. Every time a paper was rejected.
So he had opted for this way. Opted to wait and teach his team of twelve, ranging from interns to seniors, that privilege was given to those who had lived through the era of having none. Opted to wait and communicate through different people. Ones more closely associated to Ricardo, The Patent Attorney of the company.
He had heard of Amor. Had fleeting encounters with her near the Neuroscience department. He knew she was passionate. Had on situations more than one, seen the glint of science in her eyes. She was new. Four months. The exact person The Altruistic needed.
He watched as the yellow of the sun made her right eye look lighter. One half of her face highlighted in a pale hue, her lashescasting a shadow on her flushed cheekbones. So pretty, he thought. So purely, unadulteratedly pretty. He stepped closer, not wanting the heat from the bright orange ball burn her olive skin and for a second his heart went thump thump thump.
"Tell me if he gives you any updates." He spoke. Voice husky, stable and deep. The kind that made her wonder if he was the man those booktoks mentioned. She nodded. Glad that he had stepped away.
She watched him walk up the stairs of the plaza and disappear into the buzzing lobby. Noted the way his silver rolex gleamed in the light. Noted the way his black shirt clung to his back and the way his black slacks fit perfectly .
BLACK. the word reminded her of him.
He had that aura. As if he held the deepest secrets of the universe in the fist of his palm and watched as the world moved on without knowing a single thing.
She had never exchanged words with The Jungkook Jeon for more than a second.Four months ago, when she was still a wide eyed rookie stepping her foot in The Altruistic for the first time. He had been the talk of the town. Still was. He had always been an enigma. The kind of brain that would make Mendel proud. The kind of face that belonged on fashion brand advertisements. She was sure if Forbes decided to make a hottest men of science, he'd be number one.
She had heard her boss Clara speak of a nearing dream collaboration with him. And for some unknown reason, the thought of working with this man. This man who said so little but whose presence spoke volumes. This man with his deep black eyes and tattoos peeking through his rolled sleeves.
This man who was the pride of The Altruistic, whose eyes had definitely lingered slightly on her as he turned to leave, left her feeling just slightly breathless.
