"OK, I'll admit, this is more effort than you two usually put in," Lydia says, once she's opened her front door and gotten her first look at Stiles and Theo. "But I would like to state for the record that I still hate it."
"What could you possibly hate about our costumes this time?" Stiles asks, indignant, and flipping his long blonde hair out of his face. He's put in way more effort this year. Sourcing all the elements was a nightmare, but they managed it, and they look hot as fuck, in Stiles' opinion. It's impossible to wear this much Lycra and not look hot.
"Because you look ridiculous, Stiles," Lydia answers, annoyed. "Just once, I would like to be able to take a photo of everyone at this party and have us all look good. This pack is, literally, supernaturally attractive, but I don't have a single photo of us all that showcases that, because you two always insist on wearing the most absurd costumes you can find."
"Aww, Lyds, you think I'm hot?" Stiles grins, deliberately ignoring everything else she said.
"Not dressed like that, you're not," she returns, flat and annoyed.
"Aw, babe, don't listen to her," Theo says, wrapping an arm around Stiles' waist. "I think you look hot. The pink really suits you."
"You don't get a vote. You're an enabler, and besides, he could wear a paper bag and you would think he looks hot in it," Lydia says, and Theo tilts his head to the side, considering.
"We should test that theory. Do they make human-sized paper bags?"
"Ugh," Lydia says. "Absolutely ridiculous, the pair of you. Though at least Theo looks good. How you managed to make that absurd outfit look attractive, I'll never know, but whatever."
"He really pulls it off, doesn't he?" Stiles grins, leaning in to press a quick kiss against Theo's cheek. The angle is awkward, what with the visors both of them are wearing, but he manages it. There's a lip-shaped stain of shimmery gloss left behind on Theo's cheek when Stiles pulls away, but it adds to the overall costume, he decides.
"Aw, thanks, babe," Theo says, sending a smile at Stiles that's a perfect replica of Ryan Gosling's empty-headed smile.
"You're welcome, babe," Stiles grins back, and then he turns his attention back to Lydia, wriggling in place uncomfortably and tugging at his bodysuit. The multi-fluro-coloured lycra bathing suit is digging into him in some very unfortunate places, even with the hot pink bikeshorts he's wearing underneath. "I think I'm with you about this not being my best costume. How do women wear shit like this? The wedgie is killing me."
"It serves you right," Lydia says, haughty, and Theo laughs at her utter lack of sympathy. Rude.
"Well, you'd better come inside and curse everyone else with your horrible outfits," Lydia continues with a sigh, holding the door open.
"Hey, it could have been worse," Stiles tells her, as he and Theo step inside. He holds up his yellow rollerblades. "Be thankful that I decided to just carry these, instead of wearing them. I nearly did, but then I pictured me several drinks into the future and decided against it."
"If you had tried to set foot onto my freshly polished hardwood floors in rollerblades, then I would have murdered you on my doorstep and turned you into one of my Halloween yard decorations," Lydia says, and turns, sweeping up the hallway, trusting them to follow.
By the door, Stiles turns to Theo.
"Shall we go join this party, Ken?" he asks, and Theo grins and reaches out to wrap an arm around Stiles' waist.
"Lets go party, Barbie," he says, then leans in to kiss Stiles, who is too busy groaning at the terrible line to manage to kiss him back.

Since it looks like the Trials And Tribulations Of Lydia Having To Deal With Stiles And Theo's Terrible Couples Costumes seems to have become a yearly tradition, I've gone ahead and put all three installments into a fic, with each prompt as an individual chapter. I imagine I'll be adding a new chapter to it each October, for as long as Steo Events keeps hosting SteoSpooktober.

The weather was cool and crisp. Stiles’ cheeks were rosy with the slight chill and he was wrapped up in Theo’s arms. He should have felt light and carefree without any supernatural shenanigans going on, and yet he felt numb.
The Fall Festival was scheduled for later in the evening, Stiles hadn't gone to one since his mom had passed away. He started wondering if going tonight with Theo was such a good idea. Stiles was pulled out of his musings by the goodbyes from the pack. Stiles and Theo made their way to Stiles’ Jeep. Stiles turned around and Theo immediately went in for a soft kiss.
“What’s on your mind?” Theo asked.
Stiles wasn't surprised that his boyfriend knew something was going on. Even before they started dating, when he had struggled to maintain his suspicions in the face of his attraction to Theo, they were still remarkably in tune. Stiles looked down into Theo’s eyes, trying to communicate the love he felt as he spoke.
“I don't know if I’m feeling the Fall Festival, tonight. “ Stiles replied.
“Maybe we could just have a night in?” Stiles suggested.
Stiles could see Theo think it over in his mind, never losing the look of adoration he had on his face for Stiles. He saw Theo reach for him and felt him gently bring their foreheads together, eyes closed in silence for just a moment.
“Let’s just meet the pack there. We’ll only stay for a few minutes and then I promise we'll do something else together and you won’t regret it.” Theo promised.
“A few minutes?” Stiles questioned.
“ Just a few minutes. Remember, I’m always going to be looking out for you.”
Stiles felt warmth bloom in his chest. Theo had said those words to Stiles that night in the Jeep when they had been keeping watch over Josh’s body. Their history was a complete mess, but deep down, Stiles never questioned Theo’s sincerity in that statement.
“Alright” Stiles agreed.
Stiles gave Theo one last kiss before swinging open the door to his Jeep and jumping inside. He pushed his key into the ignition and turned on his car and headed home.
🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂
The sun was barely setting when Stiles arrived to the festival. Without the full heat from the sun, the air was quickly becoming colder. Stiles ran his fingers through his messy hair to style it just so, and then rolled up the sleeves of his red navy blue flannel shirt. He left it unbuttoned with a simple white V-neck underneath. Theo was always extra attentive when his neck was on full display, he thought to himself.
After he got out of his vehicle and locked the door, he saw Theo making his way to him. Theo had his hair slightly slicked black and since Stiles had seen him last, his stubble had grown a bit more into a beard. His neck was going to be red from Theo’s nuzzling tonight.
Theo greeted him with a chaste kiss and then turned around to address the rest of the pack that had been trailing behind him. He told the rest of the pack that he and Stiles would only be here for a few minutes before leaving to spend the evening together. Theo left Corey in charge and dismissed the pack to enjoy their evening.
Stiles felt Theo take his hand, and he was tugged over to one of many carts selling pumpkins. Large and perfect pumpkins surrounded the cart, but his boyfriend seemed to have difficulty finding what he wanted. Before Stiles could comment, Theo signaled over to the owner, and he waved back. In just a few moments, the owner reappeared with a big brown box in his arms as he walked over to them.
“Are you sure this is what you want?” The man inquired.
“Definitely.” Theo replied.
Stiles then saw Theo pass the man forty dollars as he exchanged it for the box. Once he had a hold of the box, he looked up at Stiles.
“Ready?” Theo asked.
“That’s it? What’s in the box?” Stiles asked.
“It’s a surprise. Let’s go.”
Stiles saw his boyfriend walk ahead back towards the parking lot, and he followed. Theo placed the box in the bed of his truck, and then he walked Stiles to the passenger door. He opened the door and looked up at Stiles.
“Let’s take my truck, and we’ll come to pick up Roscoe at the end of the night,” Theo suggested.
“Looks like your calling the shots tonight,” Stiles replied.
Theo closed the door behind Stiles and quickly made his way into the driver’s seat, and drove south. Stiles’ leg was already shaking as he tried to be patient. He had been staring off into space, completely zoned out. By the time he broke out of the trance to ask where they were going, the truck had already come to a stop.
They were at the cemetery, and Stiles was at a loss for why they were here. Theo simply squeezed his hand and got down, Stiles followed suit, and by the time he closed the passenger door, Theo was there to meet him, large box in hand. Theo led him through the cemetery, and the closer they got to their destination, Stiles began to realize that they were going to his mother’s grave.
Stiles couldn’t say a word as they arrived at his mother’s tombstone. Beloved Wife and Mother was engraved into the stone. Theo set the box on the ground and pulled out what had to be the ugliest pumpkin he had ever seen and placed it by his mother’s grave.
Theo took Stiles’ hand and asked if he remembered the last fall they had spent with each other as friends when they were younger. Stiles nodded to let Theo know he remembered.
“But I still don’t understand what this is,” Stiles said softly.
“We were picking pumpkins to decorate later, and I saw this ugly pumpkin, and I made a joke that I was ugly like this pumpkin, and that’s why my parents didn’t love me. Your mom took my hands and told me everybody deserves to be loved. When I asked her why that ugly pumpkin was still there if everybody deserved to be loved, she told me it was waiting there for us. She told me she loved me and that she couldn’t wait for us to see us grow up together.” Theo explained.
“Wow, I’m sorry that I don’t remember that.”
“You were checking every pumpkin, trying to find the perfect one. I didn’t notice at the time, but she got a little serious at that moment, and she asked me to promise I’d always look out for you. Now that I know she was sick, it makes sense, and I intend to see that promise through.”
Stiles bowed his head and began to think of his mom.
“Mom, we’re here; we made it. I wish you were here.” Stiles spoke in his mind.
At that moment, Stiles felt relief from the weight he’d felt since fall had begun. He knew his mom was watching, and Theo doing this for him gave him a sense of security because even if she wasn’t here, he isn’t forgetting her. Stiles squeezed Theo’s hand and met his gaze.
"You look very fetching," Stiles says, somehow managing to keep a straight face.
"I do, don't I?" Theo responds, looking down at himself.
"It's very much your colour," Stiles adds, lips quirking.
"You don't look half bad yourself," Theo grins, gesturing at Stiles, who presses a hand against his chest in offence.
"Don't look half bad?" he echoes, outraged. "I look hot as fuck, thank you very much."
Theo's grin turns into something with heat behind it.
"Oh, I agree," he says lowly, and Stiles snaps his gaze over to him, thoroughly distracted from ringing the doorbell, and considering suddenly whether the rest of the pack will mind if he and Theo arrive somewhat later than intended. After all, they're already late; what's another hour? No one knows they're here yet, they could--
"There you are," Lydia announces in tones of Great Annoyance as she yanks open the front door, having seen them through the window, apparently. "Congratulations on being the last ones to get-- are you kidding me."
The last part is said in that utterly flat tone that Lydia only ever uses when she's supremely unimpressed, and Stiles (reluctantly) pulls his gaze away from Theo to send a grin at her instead.
"What do you think?" he asks, holding his arms up and doing a whole-body wiggle, showing off his costume.
"Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf, are you serious right now, Stiles?" Lydia asks, judgy and unamused.
"What? It's hilarious!"
"It's overdone and uninspired," Lydia says.
"It's subversive and unexpected," Stiles argues. "Are you gonna let us in, or not? Because Theo and I were just admiring each others' costumes, and we're perfectly happy to come back later--"
"Get inside," Lydia interrupts, stepping back and holding the door open for them.
"Spoilsport," Stiles grumbles, grabbing a grinning Theo's hand and tugging him through the doorway.
"That skirt does look super cute, though," Lydia concedes, as they pass her, and Theo grins at her.
"Thanks!" he says, and then tugs at the red cape around his shoulders. "The cape's my favourite part, though. Really completes the look."
"Mm, true," Lydia hums, and then casts a disparaging glance at Stiles. "At least one of you put some effort into these absurd costume choices."
"Hey!" Stiles protests, the words slightly slurred as he talks around the overlarge plastic fangs sticking out of his mouth. "I'll have you know that this was the finest werewolf costume that thirty bucks could find."
Lydia raises an unimpressed eyebrow at him.
"I can tell," she says, and Stiles huffs in offence while Theo chuckles under his breath.
"Come on, Little Red, let's go find someone who appreciates our humour," Stiles says, and he and Theo - the big bad wolf and Little Red Riding Hood respectively, walk down the hallway hand in hand, towards the sounds of the party.
"Oh come on," Theo responds, pleading. "It's just looking! What harm can it do?"
"It is not just looking," Stiles says. "Just looking is reserved for clothes and homewares and new cars. Not for animals. Not for things that look at you and make you do The Face."
"What face?" Theo asks, frowning.
"The my emotions have connected to its emotions and now I'll feel sad and guilty for days if I leave here without it face."
"That's not a thing," Theo snorts, leading the way inside the building despite Stiles' protests.
"It's abso-- hey, get back here -- it's absolutely a thing-- I said no, Theo, do not -- "
The door to the animal shelter swings closed behind Theo, and Stiles stops in order to sigh gustily.
"I don't care how sad they look, we are not adopting anyone today," he yells at the closed door.
...
"It's not even my fault," Stiles says, a few hours later.
Theo, smug amusement rolling off him, raises an eyebrow.
"It's not," Stiles insists, obediently patting the head of the small cat that's curled up on his lap and who is politely demanding attention. "You're the one who insisted we go and donate the old blankets and shit, and you're the one who insisted on going inside to look at the animals."
"Yeah, and you're the one who said we weren't gonna adopt anyone," Theo responds, unreasonably smug.
"Well we wouldn't have if you hadn't insisted on going inside 'just looking' at everyone who needed adopting!"
"I was perfectly happy to stroll around a bit and then leave. You're the one who saw her and had to have her."
"Yeah, because the shelter guy said she'd been there for months! Months, Theo, how would you like to be left languishing in a cage for months just because of a dumb superstition?"
Theo reaches over and scratches at the black fur between the cat's ears. The cat - Buffy, Stiles has already named her - leans into his hand and purrs.
"I'm not complaining," Theo says, Stiles' shoulder warm against his and Buffy's fur soft and glossy under his fingers. "I'm just pointing out that you lost any high ground you had when you stopped dead outside her cage and pointed at her with hearts in your eyes. I knew we were gonna be bringing her home the second I saw the look on your face."
Stiles narrows his eyes at Theo.
"You planned this, didn't you," he says, suspicious. "You knew if I saw her that I'd fall in love. Did you call around to a bunch of shelters to find one with a black cat before deciding which one we should donate the blankets to?"
"I'm flattered you think I'm such a good schemer," chuckles Theo, who had in fact done exactly that.
"Yeah, well, don't think I'll be forgetting this," Stiles grumps, remarkably grizzly for someone who has an adorable cat curled up in his lap. "And we're still not getting a dog."
Theo hums non-committally, leaning comfortably into Stiles and starting -- while Stiles strokes their new cat -- to plot Part Two of Operation Get Stiles And Theo Some Pets.

There’s something really very wrong with Theo Raeken.
The chimera had come clean to Stiles letting him know the pack was in danger and how he had been the victim of the Dread Doctors as a child. Stiles thought that after they defeated the doctors that this suspicious feeling he had about Theo would go away. Yet, every time he looks at the chimera he loses his breath. On the surface Theo is all smiles at Stiles all the time, but there’s something hidden behind those eyes.
Stiles arrives at Lydia’s house a little late because he stops to drop off some lunch at the sheriff’s office before his dad can make up an excuse to order take out. He walks up the front walkway and then takes the trail that detours towards the back of Lydia’s house. He is expecting a chill get together around the pool at Lydia’s house, just the pack. What he walks into is definitely not that. It isn’t as packed as Lydia’s birthday party Sophomore year, but...
Stiles is pretty sure their pack hasn’t grown this much.
All of a sudden Stile feels a little underdressed and berates himself for walking in shirtless. He is about to make his way to look for Lydia when he is pulled up against someone in a backwards baseball cap. This person definitely works out and – who is this guy and why does he think he can just pull him along. Initially he doesn’t recognize the muscular teen, but when he turns to look at him he is surprised.
“Theo.” Stiles says
“Stiles.” Theo responds
Theo grins at him and then begins tugging him along again. Stiles can’t believe he is just allowing himself to be dragged along, but the feeling of being pulled tight to Theo’s body is muddling his brain. The possessive grip he has on Stiles’ waist feels too good. Stiles doesn’t let himself think too much about it, he is probably just grabbing him like that because Theo isn’t quite tall enough to hang his arm off his shoulders. That moment of reality or what Lydia calls negativity breaks the spell enough for Stiles to speak.
“Where are you taking me?” Stiles asks.
“Afraid I’m gonna kidnap you?” Theo counters.
Before Stiles can reply they arrive at the gazebo that is functioning as a VIP only area because the entire pack is there. There are quick greetings and then Theo starts pulling him along again. They get to the hot tub at the end of the trail where Lydia and Scott are already waiting. Theo releases Stiles, his hand drags along his back as he walks around to get into the hot tub facing Stiles directly.
Scott is all smiles and Stiles greets his best friend with a “Hey, Scotty” and then he bends down to place a light kiss on Lydia’s cheek. He lowers himself into the hot tube and lets the warm jets work the tension out of his back. The warmth completely distracts him from Theo and he just lets himself drift.
Stiles inhales deeply at the feel of hands exploring his chest and fingers tweaking his nipples. He looks up to see the look of self satisfaction on Theo’s face
“Where did Scott and Lydia go?” Stiles mutters.
“Brett got here, I’m sure they just went to greet them. You know, Alpha to Alpha.” Theo replies.
Stiles feels a little vulnerable all alone with the chimera.
Sure, Theo had abandoned the Dread Doctors for him. He said he’d come back for him. But safety wasn’t a feeling he really associated with Theo, there was always the edge of danger.
Stiles starts to lift himself out of the water.
“Well then I should be there –
And Stiles feels some powerful hands grab at his waist before they emerge from the waterline and firmly hold him down to his seat.
“What did you do?” Stiles accuses.
Theo has the gall to look offended before his dark grin appears.
“I haven’t done anything.” Theo mocks.
“Then how are you controlling the water?” Stiles pushes.
“Oh, is the water doing something Stiles? Please, tell me about it.”
“You did something and –
“I’m part kelpie, just one of the perks of being me.”
Stiles immediately has so many questions but that train of thought is cut off by the feeling of lips pressing up against the head of his cock and a tongue softly swirling around the head. Stiles feels the sensation of a tongue sliding around his dick like a spiral and he tries to focus his eyes up at the moon. He can’t give in. He refuses to let that cocky chimera win.
Fuck.
Stiles is immediately broken out of the haze when the feeling of the most wonderful blow job turns into a fist grabbing his dick really fucking hard. He shoots a look at Theo and – oh – he looks very unhappy..
“Don’t look away from me, don’t you dare hide a fucking thing.” Theo says with a glare that has never been pointed at Stiles before.
“Dude, what the fuck?” Stiles sputters.
“You heard me, all of this is mine!”
Stiles knows he means business because his dick feels the invisible fist squeeze his dick tight to deliver Theo’s point. He gasps for air, that’s the moment when he becomes aware that he has been holding his breath. His labored breathing continues and Theo’s smirk grows wider as Stiles begins to feel the sensation of being swallowed down to the hilt. He is already so hot in the water and then there is the feeling of an ice tongue driving him over the edge.
How the fuck– I’m coming!
The combination of hot and cold milks him as rope after rope of cum shoots inside his swim suit.
Theo stands up and positions himself between Stiles’ outstretched legs. Stiles’ eyes focus on his pronounced bulge and then up his light treasure trail and past his massive pecs to his face. Theo definitely looks the part of an angel, but Stiles can see underneath his pretty looks, he is pure devil. Theo lowers himself a bit, lips lightly grazing his ear.
“If I could do this with my mind, imagine what else I can do.”
Theo slowly stands back up, the son of a bitch adjusts his package with a grin and then steps out of the hot tub. He tries not to look, but Stiles’ eyes are glued to Theo’s ass. The full globes bouncing with each step and half visible because of the weight of his wet trunks lowering the waistband.
Looks like Theo isn’t done killing, because Stiles is definitely going to die tonight, half submerged underwater.
