Learn to Live Life
In 2015 when God introduced me to Living Life Recovery He gave me a slogan. That slogan was “Recovery is about Living Life. Living Life is not just about recovery.” As an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1987, it annoyed me and depressed me to think for the rest of my life every where I went I had to first ensure there was an A.A. meeting I could attend. I contributed too but was not the…

Living Life Recovery Week #32 There is a purpose to recovery and it is outlined in Step Eleven. It is to discover God's plan for my life, implement it into my daily living and through implementing it improve my relationship with Him.
Monday 3rd April 2017
Back to the monotony of Quantum. My difficulty is that there's so much dense maths that I'm really struggling to get particularly far. Managed to catch up with the press-ups so I'm back on track.
Step Eleven:- To discover God’s purpose for my life, implement it and to improve my relationship with Him, I will spend time daily in prayer, reading the Bible and meditating on it.
Bible Reading: Matthew 7:13-23 Focus Verse: Matthew 7:15 (Msg) “Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot, dripping with practiced sincerity. Chances are they are out to rip you off some way or other. Don’t be impressed with charisma; look for character.”
In the process of recovery, we are going to come across people who seem like they are in recovery. They will make all the right noises and present in all the right ways. It is important when we engage others in recovery that we include them in our prayers. That we talk to God about them and listen to what He has to say about them.
This passage of scripture warns us about three things in the process of recovery:
“Don’t look for shortcuts to God.” vs 17 Our stories disclose in a general way what we used to be like, what happened, and what we are like now. If you have decided you want what we have and are willing to go to any length to get it–then you are ready to take certain steps. At some of these we balked. thought we could find an easier, softer way. But we could not. With all the earnestness at our command, we beg of you to be fearless and thorough from the very start. Some of us have tried to hold on to our old ideas and the result was nil until we let go absolutely. (Alcoholics Anonymous)
– There are no shortcuts
“Be wary of false preachers who smile a lot” v 15 In the process of recovery we need to establish good support relationships with people who will “never exploit our emotions or pocketbook.”
– Don’t be impressed with charisma; look for character.
“Know the correct password.” v21 The correct password to successful spiritual growth is “serious obedience – doing what God wills.” – We can talk a good game. – We can act in ways that impress others. – We can sponsor others and projects that make us look good.
The reality is there is One Way to successful spiritual growth. That is personal relationship with Jesus Christ and serious obedience to God’s will through His Word.
Daily Reflection October 28, 2016 Step Eleven:- To discover God’s purpose for my life, implement it and to improve my relationship with Him, I will spend time daily in prayer, reading the Bible and meditating on it.

Step 11
This step and step twelve’s subsequent reference to a “spiritual experience” throws down a gauntlet for many agnostic or atheist folk. They already felt that steps two and three skirted the issue of a power they do not believe in. They see these steps as nixing any use of the Twelve Steps for their recovery. The internet can direct you to many providing great detail to the reasoning and approach…
