Hi!! I just came here to say for the past few days I’ve been reading your fic and HOLY SHIT its so GOOD

I went into my ATLA era again due to it always being, in my mind, a summer favourite bc I watched it for the first time during summer break back when I was in middle school, and I’m rewatching it now + went looking for some cool fanfics to read while I’m visiting my parents. And, dude, your fic? Absolutely brought me the same kind of fresh joy and amazement as the original brought me all those years ago. I’m 26 now and I get the same giddy feeling of getting immersed in a wonderful story that I got from the show then. The way you work around plot points, the way you alter certain details to make it all work so perfectly well with the AU — genuinely, I’m not sure if I ever read a better ATLA fic. I’m so so grateful for your work, the art is amazing too, I am now in the second half of the fic and I’m DREADING the moment when I catch up to the last update and then my impatient ass will have to wait for more — but i absolutely WILL, because the way you write is wonderful and honestly feels like tailor-made for my specific tastes in like, vibes and tropes and shit. I absolutely do not want to be one of those people who pester authors about updates, but let me just say — as long as you enjoy it and life allows you to, please keep writing. You’re blessing the fandom with your gift.

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to send this to me, it always makes me so emotional and happy when people send me asks talking about how much they love TAatFP 😭 It especially warms my heart (and makes me feel relieved) when people tell me that I’ve been able to accurately maintain the same “vibe” of the OG show in the fic, or that it makes them feel like watching the show again. That’s exactly what I’m going for with TAatFP - basically, it’s like if the original show was a YA novel like the Chronicles of the Avatar books lol. In general, ATLA has always brought me so much joy and comfort, and I’m so incredibly grateful that I’ve been able to bring that same joy and comfort to so many of my readers with TAatFP.

I’m ALSO so incredibly ecstatic about the fact that I’ve been able to open so many people’s eyes to Zukaang as a ship with TAatFP, because it seems like it’s a ship that is either a.) not on peoples’ radars, or b.) looked down upon for the age gap in the OG show (and occasionally more dumb reasons like “aang is zuko’s great grandfather”, which, NO, HE’S NOT, he’s his own person just like every other Avatar is). But when I had my Zukaang epiphany in 2021, I suddenly realized how much potential the ship had, and I wanted other people to see that potential too. With the new movie finally coming out, I’m hopeful that even more people will see what I see in this beautiful ship, because Zukaang legitimately means so much to me now. I literally think about them every single day and will yap about them at any chance I get lol.

Anyway, thank you so much again for reading my fic and sending this kind ask! I’d gotten a couple of weirdly rude and critical comments on a couple of my older chapters recently and it honestly really bummed me out, but getting nice asks like this always helps me feel better ❤️

Maybe you don't even answer ATLA/LoK Swap AU questions anymore, but I have this Zukoang idea in my head.(I don't know if Kiyi would be canon here, but here goes)

Aang is possibly sad because he thinks Zuko doesn't like him, and Kiyi is sitting studying at a table and suddenly says to Aang:

Kiyi: Don't worry, he likes your butt and fancy tattoos

Kiyi: I know, I read his diary

Aang: He thinks they're fancy?

(And off-topic, is Lu Ten alive and does he have children, or is he dead?)

Lmaooo I love the idea of Aang caring more about Zuko thinking his tattoos are fancy rather than that Zuko likes his butt 😂 This is such a cute idea anon, I would love to somehow incorporate Kiyi into the Swap AU like this!

And as for the Lu Ten question, I was initially thinking he’d be dead, as I usually like to keep the canon deaths in my stories (for example, Kya was mugged and killed in this AU like Mako and Bolin’s parents were), but with this being a totally different AU, I suppose I could have him be alive for funsies lol. I was thinking that either way he’d be a pretty prominent general in the United Forces like Iroh II is in LoK.

Now that I think about it, though… I might keep him alive to act as a sort of older brother figure to Zuko (and maybe help encourage him to confess his feelings to Aang lol). He’d probably come visit Republic City quite often to visit Iroh. I also think it would be funny if Aang thought Lu Ten was hot and Zuko got jealous or something lmao 🤭

Zuko n Aang’s kids must be the most spoiled children on the planet. Their Fire Nation Royalty, related to the Avatar, they’d have 3 pets (two of which being animals that are supposed to be extinct), and they have another sibling which is literally a city (Republic City).

Sorry to bring this up,but I have some questions on my mindabout taatfp (post-series)—specifically regarding adulthood and when Aang and Zuko get married. Would they have to follow Fire Nation tradition? Because, technically, the concept of marriage doesn't exist within Air Nomad culture (I mean, they do marry, but not to each other)

And if they *did* have to follow Fire Nation tradition (or Fire Nation royalty tradition), wouldn't that be a bit controversial?(For one thing, a little funny, I can picture the Gaang—and Zuko especially—asking Aang what Air Nomad weddings are like, and him just saying, "Oh, there aren't any," and explaining that the concept of marriage or the standard family model doesn't really exist in their culture)And once they *are* officially married, what would that look like? What kind of political implications or public opinions would arise?

Hi anon! So as far as I know, it’s never actually been confirmed that the concept of marriage doesn’t exist in Air Nomad society - this seems to just be a very popular headcanon, which I think people assume is true due to Air Nomads typically being raised in communal settings and having non-traditional family dynamics in this regard.

That being said, I personally believe that the Air Nomads did engage in marriage and had marriage ceremonies. So for a Zukaang wedding, I definitely think they would incorporate traditions from both Fire Nation and Air Nomad culture (I tried to showcase this in my wedding fanart I drew for Zukaang Week last year, specifically with their outfits).

In terms of what their marriage would look like, yeah, their marriage would probably be “controversial” amongst many, first and foremost due to the fact that they’re both men, as most of the post-100 Year War world is still quite conservative and homophobic.

I have mentioned this before, but I am very strongly leaning towards Zuko abdicating from the throne after a few years and passing it on to Azula. He never wanted to be Fire Lord, and I think that as the years pass, he would grow to resent his role even more, especially because it keeps him stuck in the Fire Nation and away from Aang, who has to travel the world frequently. I plan on adapting the events of the Aang movie into my fic, and I think that this major plot line would be what leads into Zuko making the decision to abdicate, and also to him asking Aang to marry him.

I’ve also toyed with the idea of Azula kind of going a Zeisan route - and by that I mean becoming radicalized and wanting to abolish the monarchy altogether and establish a democracy instead lol.

So yeah lol, I think no matter what, Zuko and Aang’s marriage would be controversial to a degree, but neither of them would give a fuck at all after everything they’ve been through.
