ALSO a reminder that Janey will immediately side with any ghoul/synth who isn't, you know, actually trying to murder people because her instincts to be a contrarian and to fight on behalf of who is getting discriminated now (as the 'crazy kid' from vault 31) wins over her instinct to mind her business, survive and pretend she doesn't care about other people at all. She'll do it in a horribly bad mood because ugh, helping people, but she'll do it. And by 'do it' I mean judge the people doing the discriminating and probably starting a big fight. (Unlike Lucy, who would it because it's the right thing to do, no doubts, or Rose, who would also do it after making sure they are not bad guys, and Terra who would shyly try to offer support without starting a fight, legs shaking and all, and try not to blow anyone up. Steph is minding her business and having a coffee)

Steph meeting a sweet girl who’s newly moved to London at Gay’s the Word

Steph falling head over heels for this cute stranger

Steph acting as sweet and polite and non-sarcastic as she can around that girl

Steph getting more and more desperate as the new girl doesn’t seem to take any interest in her

Steph being extra snarky to her friends because all the pent up sarcasm has to go somewhere

Steph accidentally exploding in a burst of sarcasm because Joe says something so naïve that she can’t shut up and the girl she has a crush on hears all of it

Steph being totally embarrassed, thinking she’s blown all her chances with that girl

that girl being quite impressed with Steph’s actual personality and asking her on a date

Steph being nervous as hell because she hasn’t been on a date in months, but she’s trying to play it cool

Steph smoking one cigarette after the other and constantly dropping and breaking things in the flat because she’s so nervous

Joe being unable to cope with her when she’s like that and dragging her to the shop because being with her friends might take her mind off the looming date

Gethin and Mike totally understanding Steph’s anxiety and consoling her tea and words of reassurance

the date starting off a bit bumpy because both women are nervous but everything getting easier as they start to laugh about their own clumsiness

Steph coming home and Joe waiting up for her because he wants to know how it went

Steph telling him the whole evening seemingly without pausing to take a breath

Steph and Joe dancing around the flat happy and relieved

3. Steph still has an old jumper that belonged to Bucky.

2. she may not act like it, but Steph really misses Bucky

She misses mucking around with him at the back of the mission briefings.

She misses teasing him whenever he let his parents near his head with a pair of scissors.

She misses the snowball fights, the jokes, the outrageous flirting in the middle of almost every serious battle against HYDRA.

But most importantly, she misses the best friend who looked out for her no matter what, who shared her memories  and who kissed her for the first time that new years eve before the mission she lost him to.

1. Steph desn't go in for "tact" much. she calls things as she sees them

which gets her into trouble most of the time

Let's face it - she's a soldier, she's been surrounded by soldiers for years, she's bound to have picked up a few things. She's blunt. She's fearless when it comes to speaking her mind. If she's angry, you'll know about it, but if she thinks she's overreacted she'll take back everything she said just to try and keep the peace.

If she doesn't agree with something, she'll say it plainly. For example, if someone said "the world is flat" her response would most likely be either "bullshit" or a sort of sarcastic comment.

She doesn't much care for arrogance, either. She may play down what she does, but she knows that she had an important effect on history because of what she's been told by other people and the internet (which, by the way, she doesn't like using because she thinks it's complicated), so someone saying "you're not as important as me" annoys her. A lot. Not because she thinks highly of herself - far from it - but because she honestly believes that everyone is as important as each other, it's just that some people are better at getting their voices heard than others.
