Grian is Lizzie's evil counterpart / Helsmit. However, Helsmits usually start out as an exact replica of the original person, which means for a mixed-gender pair such as theirs, one of them is trans.

It was Grian. He figured that out very early on, and the two of them began studying code magic together to help him physically transition without having to go through most of the trouble it would normally entail.

A side effect of this is that Lizzie found out how to make her hair naturally pink, was deciding between a few shades, and finally went with the pink matching the trans flag. On the flip side, whenever Grian has to make something for her, he defaults to bi flag colours if given no specific instructions.
