yes lmao; although the 180 - ok, maybe like 120, i didnt hate him or anything but he was just... kind of there - came pretty fast in like a span of weeks, bc there was a point when i got 2 mayuaka fic meme requests in my inbox at the same time... and the rest is history.

i think it was both? i def relate to him a lot... my initial reaction to anything i dislike is Obvious Anger(tm), i had/have a lot of his attitude problems early on, im a returnee kid too (though this relates to both of them)...etc. but the series framing it in his/seirin’s pov (even though taiga does think about how he potentially fucked up on-screen) does subconsiously or not point the audience in a particular side of the conflict, i think (im usually the ‘just follow w/e the series is aiming for and then do a rewatch’ type haha)

i think it was mostly that i wasn’t expecting to like some characters so much, you know? like...mayuzumi, honestly, i was like wtf is this? when he first appeared, and now...haha

i really didn’t like kiridai or haizaki at first (like, the setup worked, because that was what we were supposed to feel i guess?) but i can appreciate them as characters now after a year. hanamiya is definitely a problematic fave 

tatsuya ... also took a surprisingly long time to grow on me lol (even though he’s definitely top 3 for me now.) i didn’t really care about s2 so much at first tbh, and maybe it’s also bc a) nearly all the content i saw was mura/himu stuff which falls into the ‘lowkey shipping but not on the level of everything else i really like’ category and b) i was firmly on kagami’s side of the conflict through my first read/watch ... rewatching the yosen game a couple times made me realize oh...fuck lmao i completely understand why tatsuya was upset bc i have been there, so.
