Ok .. Stephpat time. I keep thinking of how they’re so isolated. Constantly feeling like they’re just outsiders watching in. But, they watch in on other people together. Stephanie sort of feels like she’s inherently bound to be alone because of her situation. Patrick has “accepted” isolation and deliberately tries to scare people because and lean into it he thinks it’s safer that way. But their dynamic accidentally ends up challenging those beliefs and they try for eachother to get past how alien it feels. 🥲 Love them so bad

AUGHHHHHH. You're so right though. Steph has always tried to cling to people only to watch them die, and it can't possibly take that long for her to start blaming herself. Doesn't help that other people end up blaming her too, even though they change their mind later (in the case of the other members of the MT4.) But even then... she's forgotten by the story. Yes, that was technically for OOG reasons. But she's barely acknowledged since. She's forever alone even within the fandom. I once had a thought that maybe Steph- wherever she was- had to watch in the background as the others got to put the camera down and walk away into nowhere at the end... that thought broke me </3

And Patrick? Patrick's always pushing other people away but still clearly desires trust. It's like he wants it but either can't fully commit to it out of fear, or he truly thinks scaring people is the only way to get them to listen, to do what he says, to LIVE, and by the time he realizes, wait, no, I care- wait I don't want this, people are already dying around him. And you can hear the devastation in his voice in both SF and the Princeton Tapes, when before he made it sound like he didn't give a fuck! He just doesn't want to show people how vulnerable and afraid he is, he thinks if he puts on a leader role it'll help when in reality what would've helped is a real connection...

When Stephanie opens the door, she discovers dozens of soda cans and packages strewn about the floor. The bathtub’s shower curtain is halfway open, and a ridiculous amount of soda spilling over one side of the tub. At first, no-one appears to be in the bathroom]

Stephanie: Wha—OLIVER! WHY IS THE BATHTUB FULL OF SODA?!

Matthew: *pipes up from somewhere nearby, remaining unseen*  He must’ve been experimenting to see if prolonged exposure to different soda brands has any effect on human skin! I think it’s important to encourage the creativity of a child because—
