I take your the daynes are not white and raise you: the targaryens are canonically more dornish than valyrian
They are, but they are always presented as white and are most certainly do not adhere to Dornish customs or culture, to the point that Aerys is a raging racist, even–no, especially–to his own granddaughter.
While genetically Mariah’s descendants have a significant percentage of Dornish blood (IIRC it’s almost 40%), I am positive GRRM never intended for them to be representative, it’s just happenstance. After all, Mariah is almost never mentioned, and Dyanna Dayne has one single mention–which is in the Dunk and Egg books to say she’s dead. She’s not even named except in the family tree.
So, while I do think it’s telling that fandom conveniently ignores/downplays/vilifies the Dornishwomen who married into the Targs, especially in fancasts (I can count on one hand how many times I’ve seen Maekar, Aegon V, etc. accurately given POC fancasts), I don’t think it’s incorrect to portray the present Targs as white. If nothing else than because the novels do exactly that and never shy away from pointing out when someone is nonwhite.
