featuring: soulmarks, light angst, and getting together
After his mom’s death, Stiles isn’t interested in meeting his soulmate, but following a chance encounter in the park, he decides that maybe soulmates aren’t so bad. Unfortunately, life sucks. Tragedy strikes, and Derek’s gone before Stiles can get to know him.
Derek’s only ever wanted one thing in life: to go back to Beacon Hills and find his soulmate. But when he finally returns home, is it too late? There’s no guarantee that Stiles is still there or that he hasn’t moved on with someone else.
…or the one where everyone is born with a soulmark that disappears when they meet their soulmate, only Stiles and Derek met when they were too young to do anything about it.
Stiles looks down at the faint lines of his arm. Most of the permanent marker faded, but his skin is unblemished instead of revealing his soulmark. "I traced over my soulmark, but it's gone." He tilts his head in confusion as he looks up at his dad.
"Well, it looks like you met your soulmate today." His dad wears a sad smile on his face.
Stiles's mind immediately latches onto the dark-haired boy he met. Derek. Could Derek be his soulmate? Maybe soulmates aren't so bad then. Especially if his soulmate's a werewolf, that'd be so cool. And it's not like Derek could get sick like his mom did since their bodies are basically magic, always keeping them healthy.
His dad clears his throat and wears a knowing look on his face. "Alright. I know you're excited, but it's still bedtime. We'll figure this out in the morning."
"Aww, but da—"
"No," his dad says, holding a finger up. "I know you think it's that boy, and it probably is, but it's also late. I promise I'll look into it tomorrow. But for now, it's time for bed."
Stiles drains the tub and pouts as he gets out. Another protest is on his tongue, but his dad wraps him in the fluffy towel and kisses his forehead before nudging him toward his bedroom.
