Happy (American) Pi Day, startorialists!!!

I’ve got some fun math jewelry to serve up today, so watch this space...

For starters, one of our favorite jewelry designers, Stern Design Works, is having a Pi Day/Snow day sale on their beautiful pi necklace! Available in brass or sterling silver, it’s 31.4% off today. ;)

Our second featured venue (previously) is Stern Design Works, an NYC-based company that makes creative & custom jewelry including necklaces, earrings, pins, cuff links, and rings!

From their website:

Each piece is inspired by the STEAM initiative (Science, Technology Engineering, Art, Math) and bridges past to present by artfully combining 3D Printing with lost material casting and other traditional techniques.

We love them for their space travel themed pieces, but the entire Collected Histories are of potential interest for us startorialists, including pieces inspired by science, spacecraft, sci-fi, animals, extinct animals, fantasy animals, and cheese. Yes,cheese!

I picked out just a few of my favorites for the photos:

Hayden Planetarium (sold out!) & Squid vs. Whale

They also offer custom work, which includes this FAQ answer that sounds like a challenge: “We have created everything from rocket ships to colons“!

A pumice grinding wheel is used to take away metal flashing and the remnants of the sprue (the system of channels that allow metal in and air out of the cavity inside the investment plaster mold).
