Can you call a comeback to be a homecoming and vice versa? Look, my definition can be applied according to a case, yet the Eagles' Long Road Out Of Eden can be seen both. On the hand the group released two LPs of original material after a lengthy hiatus, but on the other the discs represent a return to the old sound, because the platter doesn't continue the evolution of what they did on The Long Run that much. However, I would claim Long Road Out Of Eden might be a homecoming mostly thanks to there being sense of a long promised obligation present throughout the entire tracklist, i.e. they needed to do this collection of tunes, because the fans demanded them and the Eagles always aim to please, they are such a type of a collective.

There are some musicians who used to be quite huge that manage to retain this fame, because they didn't release much after their biggest successes and one such case could be The Eagles. The Long Run broke them, but they returned for the lengthy tours later on. However, they didn't really decide to try to do another record until Long Road Out Of Eden, which feels like The Next Day, i.e. an album of original material which also doubles as a collection of callbacks. However, the greatest surprised can be heard on the link, since they did another instrumental. They rarely tackled those, but you ask yourself why. There's something about the group, which could function well within the voiceless songs. I mean, this tune from LP provides us with a familiar yet weird soundscape.
