Problematic Reasons: Age gap (no canon age for Lars, but he's already a teenager and has a part-time job at the start of the series when Steven is 12)

Propaganda under the cut:

Steven brought Lars back from the dead with the power of magic tears 💪

Also Lars' hair is a portal (wack ik) that Steven can travel through, so they're never truly far apart, even if there are galaxies between them!

On a sadder note, as the only two semi-immortal human characters of the series, they'll both long outlive all the other humans of Beach City. They're already good friends, but I feel that they'd probably grow much closer post-canon due to this fact.
