Steve getting to see Bucky cooing over his babies while giving them a bath, the infants out of view, he just sees Bucky sitting on the floor beside the tub and leaning in. His voice is gentle and sweet, lyrical and full of joy, patient and kind. John sees him watching and smiles, and Steve turns to him and they're just smiling together, sharing a moment of being so happy about Bucky being so safe and happy and fulfilled, and then Bucky calls out that he knows they're out there and maybe they could bring more towels (affectionate). 💕💕

I wanna have a simplified way to draw them that's not just the chibi cute and also doesn't require heavy realism for doing silly little jokes

I like where this is going so far

Ugh my hands have been hurting a lot lately though so drawing isn't always fun :(

Between getting through Steve's apologetic depressed guilt stage (maybe prolonged partially by the unfortunate necessity of keeping his return under wraps- I mean, they could let him go off and do Captain America stuff with Sam, but actually no, Sam thinks helping with the babies and catching up with Bucky is good for him the last thing he needs is a distraction- that's where repressing things happens. Also, Steve abandoned Sam too and left him in a tough situation, if Bucky wants to deal with his weepy stuff go ahead- that doesn't sound like a fun day at work, he'll visit, though)

- and Bucky physically recovering from giving birth, and the huge portion of their time being devoted to infant care, it's a slow build up to the three of them actually getting to try fooling around in the bedroom at the same time. This is great for John's demisexual need for connection and establishing a relationship before sexual attraction gets switched on- and him getting comfortable with trying the poly thing.

Because for John it's not exactly going to work if it's casual. He could try in a similar vein of being sex positive asexual with regards to Steve, focusing primarily on Bucky, but that also doesn't work for Steve because Bucky doesn't really want to top and neither does Steve lol... Steve could maybe try vers stuff later, but that's not his thing, really. If they experiment he might be up for Bucky riding him, but he'd want either Bucky in control or John in control and guiding Steve in servicing Bucky.

So. Not casual, John and Steve have to interact, and Bucky knows this from the start, he doesn't want John to have to just be willing to try, he wants him fully enjoying himself. He loves how intense and focused John gets with body worship, really personal and intimate, and he kinda doesn't want to find out what it looks like for John to just go through with it... might even bring up memories of being used for sex via his Asset conditioning, which would greatly upset John and Steve to think about and make Bucky shut down.

The idea of Steve watching is the gateway to John trying out his level of comfort and Steve's (Steve is still technically bi-curious at this stage, though he is pretty confident that he would enjoy the physical acts, it's all been fantasy so far) and Bucky likes that John isn't trying to do a dominance posturing at Steve (I'm fucking your friend he chose me not you) or think of it as a cuck thing (which would put John in the chair, anyway) but kinda indulging a bit in showing off that he's good for Bucky and he could rock Steve's world, too 😉 (Steve loooves seeing Bucky getting off and also is very much into the idea of being a good boy for John 🫣)

(when they were young if Bucky dished out details of his conquests or if they read racy stuff or anything like that it would have been with the framing of both of them having fantasies about the same fictional sex object girl- both doing the same role... so really it is perfectly in line, lol)

John finds that he is very turned on by Steve watching Bucky suck him off, hearing every excited breath and suppressed moan, the fumbling of hands under fabric, and how when he uses his hand to stroke Bucky off in return Steve is doing the same on himself. Hot. As if imagining John's hand on him, too. Yeah, this arrangement is gonna work out.

Steve dozing in the big padded chair in Bucky and John's room by the window, flecks and smudges of acrylic ink on his fingers and scrubs from the drawings he's been making with a set of brush tip paint pens that Yelena gave him (she bought some to try adult coloring pages but hadn't been doing it in a while). His sketch pad has studies of the babies sleeping, of Bucky and John and the others.

John notices a page that seems to be several attempts to capture his profile, feeling a bit like he's spying but after all it's him in the pictures. Looking rather artistic and sculptural. It brings a little warmth to his cheeks, as if the pen strokes capturing his likeness had caressed his actual face, the soft curve of his lip, the map of his freckles.

Bucky recognizes the look and smiles, tugging John to the bed with a quiet hum. To be seen like that feels incredibly intimate, an expression of love. He remembers finding himself in Steve's sketchbooks. Some of them are on display behind museum glass.

"Mmm, come here..." Bucky zeroes in on John's pants, undoing his belt.

John blushes when he starts getting handsy. "Bucky... ya gonna do this with Steve right there asleep?"

"Good point, aughta' wake him up so he doesn't miss anything," Bucky grins. "Stevie, you wake? Yeah you are."

"Ahum..." Steve blushes and smiles bashfully. "I can, uh, leave-"

"Or you could stay..."

"... in the chair?"

"There's an idea." Bucky chews his lip and looks to John. "Whatcha think of that?"

John opens his mouth, closes it, then speaks. "Yuh-huh."

"Mmmmmgood."

Bucky: *enjoying his snack of banana pudding made by John with Sam's recipe from his grandma* mm... hot take, modern bananas are just fine. In fact... I think they taste better in some things.

Steve: *blinks, ignores use of 'hot take'* what are you saying right now-

Yelena: *snorts* oh no, things are about to get intense in the old man fandom...

Bucky: I don't care about the big Mike banana.

Steve: can't believe you.

Bucky: the twins are probably 50% banana pudding considering how much of it I ate during pregnancy.

Yelena: ha, yes.

Steve: I'm kinda sad I missed that part... hard to imagine what that must've been like...

Yelena: he was so round, out to here, and would waddle like this... *demonstrates with salad bowl stuffed under shirt* John, I'm hungry but nothing is good... And make puppy eyes.

Bucky: ha ha.

Steve: aww 🥰

Bucky: yeah yeah...

How long did it take before someone says (in person or on the news somewhere) something about Bucky having recently been a congressman and Steve whips his head around to look at him like

"When were you gonna mention THAT??"

"... honestly I figured Sam already told you?" And then after a second, "Don't take that tone with me...!" Because he's probably feeding the twins, they need feeding every couple hours, that's almost always what he's doing.

Steve calms down and apologizes of course

“I’ve only seen you a handful of times in the last hundred years,” Steve said, knowing it was a bit of an exaggeration, and pushing Bucky even when he knew he shouldn’t. “Every time I turn around you’re ripped away from me. We’ve barely been able to stand still in the same spot for more than a few minutes at a time.”

“And who’s fault is that?” Bucky snapped, rounding on Steve with a fierce look. “How many times did I chase after you, huh?”

“Bucky,” Steve stressed the name in frustration, closing his eyes. “Please. Cut me a little slack? I never held anything against you- and you shot me into a bus with a grenade launcher.”

Aaaaa I finished it. This is uh, what I think happens in season 2 of the falcon and winter soldier timeline *clears throat* yep. TOtallly accurate.
