RIP Steve Silverman
Let's not start with his writings on here... He's been a science writer for Wired magazine for maybe ny years, a gay living in Haight Ashbury, and why entrepreneurs and artists have so many autism, a book to help people understand that autism and disability are not a failure version of "normal," author of "Neuro Tribe" Neuro Tribe (the Japanese title is Autistic World), and he's no other than a Buddhist, whose ability to explain Dead scenes in Watkins Glen in '73 in the Dead First show, in the intro to the film Long Strange Trip, skillfully using Tibetan mandala.
And 20 years later he published the slang, terminology, and history guide dictionary used by Dead Heads, "Skeleton Key" in '94, and the Japanese version was published with many twists and turns. I know most of the things written in this book now, and to Newcomers in their 20s, we old schoolers have become in a position to teach, to correct wrongs. If there's something you want to know, ask a question on fb rather than search it, so it looks as if the skeleton key is over. There's a mess on fb today over news I just heard that they published a book following Neuro Tribe.
Rest in deep peace.
If you're interested in Sunset Boulevard, you'll want to hear this episode of Useless Information. The husband Steve is the usual host and the wife Mary Jane is the sometimes-cohost, but Mary Jane happens to be the trivia expert on the subject of Sunset Boulevard.
FYI Steve is also the author of three books of history trivia, including Lindbergh's Artificial Heart.
