TEN DAYS OF DITKO, Day Five! My top 10 favorite images created by the legendary STEVE DITKO, leading up to my LIVE VisuaLecture, "The Strange Worlds of Steve Ditko," at DITKO-CON 2021 in his hometown of Johnstown, PA, on Friday night, September 10, before the 1-day convention on Saturday the 11th, where I'll be signing hardcover copies of my book, The Silver Age of Comic Book Art! Hope to meet my PA peeps there: http://bottleworks.org/ditk-con-2021/ This Ditko image, from the splash page of his second Spider-Man Annual (1965), is super-significant for a number of reasons: it was the first crossover meeting between Ditko's 2 greatest creations, and delivered on all that it promised. To see Spider-Man gamboling through the otherworldly dimensions of Ditko's Dr. Strange was every fan's wish-fulfillment! Not to mention it was this writer's first Marvel comic purchased with his own quarter at the age of seven, and my introduction to all 3 at the same time: Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, and yes, Ditko himself! What an unforgettable introduction!!! #steveditkoart #ditko #steveditkospiderman #steveditkodoctorstrange #marveluniverse #marvelmemes #drstrange #doctorstrange #arlenschumer #comicbookhistory #comicbookhistorian @dgareps @tommyzotos @adamschumer @richard_syrett https://www.instagram.com/p/CTc3yAsrJjw/?utm_medium=tumblr
