I don't think there was a specific painting, but the Hilton of the title is clearly Roger. There is an 'eye' glyph on the surface, suggesting the painting looks at you, rather than the other way about.

The figure, whoever he is, is engrossed in a book. He wears a jester's cap and a robe. This is more likely a picure of Lear than the devil himself.

Sometimes the colour of the sky round here is surprising. My landscapes are symbolic, rather than documentary. I call it Philistine Fen because no-one locally seems to want to buy the work. I now do about 2 day, and just a few sales would make me so much happier.

Because I am poor, I use whatever I come across - packaging, etc. This is on corrugated card. It was exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Show in 2012, but was 20 feet in the air, so no-one saw its subtlety. It is the forge of the god.
