GUYS. Take a chill pill.
I love this fandom, I do. I am in awe of so many individuals here, of their passion and investment and intelligence. I've enjoyed many of the discussions I read, have laughed at such witticism and humour that I honestly have never seen in any fandom elsewhere (or maybe I've just been living under a rock, I don't know), marvelled at art that I firmly believe should either be printed out or be on display somewhere. I could go on and on, but to sum it up in one word, this fandom is MARVELLOUS. But I guess the downside of such passion and investment and intelligence is that we tend to sometimes -- collectively -- overlook and forget the real reason why Mofftiss and Ben and Martin and everyone else involved in this show do what they do: plainly and simply put, it's because they want to entertain us. They want to tell us a good story. They want us to suspend disbelief, if only for 90 minutes per episode every two to three years, and lose ourselves in the narrative as they wish to tell it. So guys -- take a chill pill. To a certain extent it's enjoyable to write and read about meta, to research every little thing pertaining to the show and get excited or stressed (depending) about whatever is found, to debate John's actions or Sherlock's feelings or whatnot. BUT ONLY TO A CERTAIN EXTENT. When something begins to hurt you, makes you unnecessarily anxious, or -- God forbid! -- makes you forget that this show exists to ENTERTAIN, to tell a story: learn how to step back. That's it. Just ... step back. You'd be surprised how much larger the picture would suddenly become when you do. As Johnny Depp is credited for saying, 'I think the thing to do is to enjoy the ride while you're on it.' So yeah -- enjoy the ride, guys, because that's what we really should be doing in the first place!

Doctor Who Renewed for Tenth Season
Doctor Who Renewed for Tenth Season
We went through the news from SDCC for Doctor Who yesterday morning, and though there was lots of talk about Series 9, one thing no one mentioned was if Series 10 would be happening. Turns out that’s because the BBC wanted to save that announcement for their own. And by “save that announcement,” we mean store it away on page 32 (of 48) of the BBC Worldwide Annual Review, a pdf report on the state…

Doctor Who Rumored to be Running Through 2020
Doctor Who Rumored to be Running Through 2020
It’s not like the BBC is about to kill their main cash cow anytime soon. Not now anyway, when BBC funding is one of the issues being brought up during this spring’s elections.
But renewed for the next five years? This rumor started when the RadioTimes noticed and pulled out a Moffat quote from Doctor Who magazine this month that supposedly confirms the show isn’t going anywhere for a while.
Spea…

Steve Moffat: PBS Delaying Sherlock is "Bloody Nonsense"
Steve Moffat: PBS Delaying Sherlock is “Bloody Nonsense”
With news that PBS is losing their Downton infusion at the end of next year, Moffat decided it might be time to pipe up about another show the channel shares with the UK, on the same sort of “delayed” format.
He might have accepted it when it was something everyone was doing, but if there’s not going to be other shows that have ludicrously long delays attached to them because it helps the…

Jenna Coleman Planned to Leave Doctor Who Twice
Jenna Coleman Planned to Leave Doctor Who Twice
It was pretty obvious to everyone watching the Christmas special that the ending had been rewritten at the last-minute to have Clara stay on. Considering the rumors were rife she’d be leaving at Christmas, we were basically looking for it. Coleman and Moffat were pretty open about it too–that the original ending was “old Clara” and that last Clara bitwas tacked on to make it so she could stay for…
