🔥 — she’d been sitting out near the ocean for quite a while now ; considering it was nighttime when she first went out, & the clock now read noon, most people would assume she had something on her mind. they’d be right. part of her wanted to talk to someone about... everything... but there was no way she’d talk to any of those Crystal Gems about it. she was on thin ice with them already, with the truth of what she was having come out.
Homeworld had deliberately kept her in the dark about her true identity, & now it felt like she didn’t even know who she was. if she dared to open her mouth, to act like she was the one suffering the most of this -- they’d all be offended. she deserved to suffer, & she deserved to be a monster. they didn’t deserve to live around someone like her.
so she just sat, away from everyone else, hunched over & knees to her chest, staring out at the waves. it didn’t even take her having to turn her head to know that the littlest runt had approached her.
her anger wanted to come out, it really did. around any of the others, she probably would have bristled & screamed & told them to leave her alone. he was different, somehow, & any rage retreated ; leaving her to feel simply numb.
“ hey, pebble. shouldn’t you be with the others? ”
