Yo, I was in the Meet and Greet for that S&M question and that /and/ a Stucky question were so cringeworthy--the Stucky one was in good faith so Seb was sweet to her after and gave the questioner a fistbump to make her feel better bc she sounded terrified, but the S&M question was like--yikes. And in general, by the end of the con, he was really playing into, I feel, this asshole version of himself bc that's what the fans had created and what they kept demanding of him and it felt rly gross(1/2)
(2/2) IDK, after four years of seeing him at cons, I've noticed that the more he tries to enable private time to actually MEET and GET TO KNOW fans the more they interpret that as "friendship" and use it to ask him invasive qs or demand more of his attention and time. Honestly the meet n greet felt so fake and uncomfortable 4 me bc of that whereas the moments we had elsewhere were brief but genuine. ANYWAY. that's my 2 cents. miss you! met steph finally too!
Awww, I miss you too!!!! It was really weird not to be in Philly this time around, but I’ve got a big family thing this weekend in Atlanta, and I can only take so many days off work before they’re all, hey, is there something you want to tell us. :D
But yeah, I've noticed that same change in him from that first WW con in Philly in 2014 to the last con I saw him at in Phoenix in January - like, he’s trying so hard to create this genuine space where he can get to know the fans a little bit better and have more of a dialogue and some people are taking that inch and running all the way to the end of the universe.
It’d be nice for people to just take a breath and remember that he’s not some meme lord who only exists to spit out quotable lines for gif sets on Tumblr, but an actual human being - but I’m not holding my breath. Entitled fans are sadly not a new thing. At least he’s handling them the right way. :D
