I just saw something that said stevidot wasn’t pedophilic because Steven is fourteen which is “out of the age range for it to be pedophilic”

Stevidot is literally pedophilia??? Like why?? Even? ?? Someone please explain to me why you think this is okay? Because it’s definitely not and I really don’t care if you block me for hate, do it. I don’t have anything against the shipper, I have something against the pedophilic ship, which I have seen NO stevidot shipper try to justify or disprove the fact that it is pedophilia at all. And while we’re on the subject, Matt’s first tweet over Peridot being grown, I saw NO SHIPPER argue with that. THEY KNEW it was pedophilic and didn’t care. They acted like they were victims of hate, which no, it’s because of your ship. And all of a sudden, when Matt deleted it and posted the thing about bullying, they used THAT as a shield and are using it to make it seem okay to ship it.

I’m pretty disgusted with people in the Steven Universe fandom who are hating on the Stevidot ship. They claim they’re fighting against depictions of pedophilia(pairing a child with an adult sexually) but they’re really not .

I say that they’re not because if they paid any attention to majority of people actually shipping Stevidot don’t see Peridot as an adult. Not after her characterization in the Catch and Release, Back to the Barn and Too Far. They see her as a child that is finally being allowed to be a child. They’re shipping the two as a childhood crush(aka a toy ship) Depictions of a relationship between the two are no more pediophilia than depictions of Steven and Connie(except if sexual situation are depicted without showing the characters appropriately aged up but that’s not the standard depiction now is it)

So what are these anti-Stevidot warriors actually fighting for? They’re fighting for their interpretation of Peridot. The one that they have of Peridot as an adult and only and adult and cannot believe, accept or and conceive that anyone could and do see Peridot differently than they do. But apparently fandom has finally caught on that shaming or hating on someone for their interpretations of canon is actually a pretty shitty thing to do. But these assholes still want to attack people who think differently than they do. So they dress up their hatred as attempts to protect children with twisted roundabout logic, that only works in their minds because they’re convinced their point of view(Peridot is an adult) is somehow fact and not opinion.

They send hate to shippers, trying to drive them to suicide and trigger abuse survivors because of indiscriminate and wide range attacks. And ultimately they’re not protecting anyone or anything except their own egos.
