Jet references quitting “the Armada.” This is, in fact, a reference to the Battle Bird Armada, AKA the Battle Kukku Empire from Tails’ Adventure! That’s an obscure game, so if you aren’t familiar with it: they’re birds, they’re evil, they have advanced machinery, and some of them are green. You know, like Jet. It’s a mere coincidence in the games, but it’s a perfect opportunity for Ian. Yes, Jet has existed for two pages, and Ian is already both connecting him to the franchise’s past and laying he groundwork for future stories
