highway to hell || tw: accident
Jughead was tired from another double shift. He’d woken up early that Saturday morning and was at the garage by 7:30, helping with the bikes and cars that came in. He’d left to pick up Jellybean and then spent the rest of the day there until around 8:00 when he said his goodbyes to the closing crew and went home to shower, dress and go to La Bonne Nuit for his security detail that he was doing almost every weekend. Sure he wasn’t getting much sleep when he was getting in at 1 am or later on Fridays and waking up to work again, but money was money. It was nearly 2 o’clock in the morning, he was tired and the only thing he wanted to do was to drive home and go to bed so he could see Veronica in the morning and take the rest of the day to spend with his Dad and sister. He’d started his bike, having eaten a late dinner at Pop’s with Betty and Veronica and stayed to help Pop close up for the night.
He’d done this drive so many times it felt natural to him, and he curved through the streets, the only noise coming from his bike’s engine and the occasional jolt if he hit a pothole. But what he didn't’ see was the Black SUV that had peeled out of the Pop’s lot after him, following at a safe distance. He was nearly home, maybe a few blocks away when he realized how close the car was getting to him. It was odd, no one took this backroad home like he did, and out of instinct, he turned down a different street hoping to lose them before cutting around and heading home. As he peeled quickly down a street and back to the main road he thought he was fine, the car was long gone and he was probably just being dramatic. he looked behind him, slowly moving the bike forward along the main road, to assure himself they were really gone. As he turned around however he came face to face with headlights and within moments the car was coming straight for him, striking him and his bike, sending him flying from his bike to the ground. He blacked out for a moment, coming too in time to see the tires and reverse lights from the back of the car come straight at him. He passed out before he felt the pain.
