The beginning
Well we all have to start somewhere right? Everyone has a beginning. The princesses had their ‘Once Upon a Times’, America had, ‘We the People’ and Dickens said, ‘They were the best of times and the worst of times’. There have been so many famous beginnings that led to incredible successes. The beginning is never fabulous, rather it is often filled with struggle, rejection, anxiety, unrest, poverty, etc. Some stories paint the beginning as a glamorous clean slate that starts the rest of your life. An image that comes to mind is a bright eyed hopeful who drags her suitcase into the middle of Times Square looks up, takes a breath and is ready to attack the city. This young woman is a dreamer, one with passion and determination ready to start her new life-- this is her beginning. Her road will encounter many bumps, rejections, heart breaks, and lows, but they mostly occur in the beginning. Everyone has a beginning, but not everyone understands why the NEED a beginning. Many will think it’s because they need the spark of motivation, the youthful aspiration, which is undoubtedly a part of it, but the beginning is where a lot of the kinks are flushed out. The beginning is where you feel pain and you learn to overcome it, you are made strong to persevere. Without this time how could you be the success that you are? If you feel discouraged, know that this is just your beginning no matter if you may think you’re late in the game because once it’s all flushed out you are going to conquer the world. Today I am marking my beginning. Not the beginning of my professional life-- that is going to be a separate undertaking, but this is the beginning of ascertaining my overall wellness. Prioritizing my mental, emotional and spiritual health one day at a time. Baby steps everyone, baby steps. You can begin whatever you want at anytime, I know it can be scary, but don’t stop even when it gets ugly-- remember this is what’s going to get you through, it’s just the beginning.
