These sweet and sticky bacon-wrapped dates are the perfect combination of flavors, with the sweetness of Medjool dates and the savory crunch of bacon. They make for a delightful appetizer that's sure to impress your guests.
Ingredients: 16 Medjool dates, pitted. 8 slices of bacon, cut in half. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/4 cup maple syrup. 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional. Toothpicks.
Instructions: Set the oven temperature to 375F 190C. Combine the brown sugar, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and cayenne pepper if using in a small bowl. Put aside. Half a slice of bacon should be wrapped around a pitted Medjool date. Put a toothpick through the date's center to hold the bacon in place. For every date, repeat this. To allow extra fat to drain, arrange the bacon-wrapped dates on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper or a wire rack set on top of a baking sheet. Distribute the brown sugar and maple syrup mixture evenly over each date wrapped in bacon by giving it a generous brushing. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized, rotating the pan halfway through to guarantee uniform cooking. Take out of the oven and allow it to cool down a little before serving. The filling will be extremely hot, so proceed with caution. Serve your sticky and sweet dates wrapped in bacon as a great party snack or appetizer. Have fun!
