Stigmatics appear to be churning out gut-wrenching, Americana-infused post-punk anthems from the middle of nowhere, and this project appears to be an extension of Grandi Oso’s bleak aesthetic. Carried by delightfully drowsy drawl, “Sea of Tranquility” feels both intimate and detached, a song that would not be out of place in a post-apocalyptic epic or a conventional spaghetti Western. The track is only sprawling to accentuate the emptiness; the dreariness and fragility work against the vast backdrop, which lends the desolation an adequate amount of emphasis.
