Today I want to talk about ONE of my favorite moments in Astarions romance. video version here
It is a really small moment, not longer than a few seconds and easy to miss hidden between two other beautiful scenes. but one that touches me so fucking deeply every single time.
This moment happens during the confession scene, after you’ve proven that you truly care for him. Right after my absolute favorite scene of the whole game.
...But the moment I’m talking about is this one…
He seems genuinely excited, nervous, maybe even a little worried, because he doesn’t know what comes next. But I think that's exactly what he enjoys….
For 200 years he repeated the same lines and always got the same responses. And if not, he knew exactly what reactions to expect. He knows how to play this game, with feelings, with expectations. But he doesn’t know what it’s like when someone actually stays. When someone genuinely cares about him. And then suddenly, it matters what this person thinks of him. If the game suddenly loses its meaning, what meaning is left?
And I think that’s exactly what brought his heart back to life.
-The uncertainty, the excitement. Not to know what happens next. -Not to fulfill expectations, but to set own expectations. -And what it feels like to have a true connection.
