“Boss. There’s a checkpoint.” Antonio’s voice crackled over the speaker.
Fuck.
“Any cars in the way?” He couldn’t see through the darkened partition that separated the driver from the passengers.
“Just one.”
“Run it. Push the other car outta the way if you gotta. But we can’t stop, Ton.” Sebastian ran a hand through his hair before he ripped off his bow tie, tossing it onto the floor.
The limo was more like a tank, with a heavy 4x4 chassis, armored plating, and bulletproof glass. It would survive just about anything they threw at it; including high caliber rounds and even explosives. He shrugged out of his jacket and draped it over Scarlett before he moved to the floor in front of her, one arm braced against her midsection, while the other held tightly onto the grip of his VP9. Antonio laid on the horn, attempting to get the other driver to move out of the way and Sebastian braced himself, one leg stuck out and pushing against the seat across from him. He could hear Antonio muttering prayers under his breath, having left the speaker on, as the limo accelerated.
The impact came seconds later as the front of the limo smashed into the rear of the vehicle still sitting in the middle of the checkpoint. Sebastian pushed back, keeping Scarlett’s body pinned against the back of the seat as the engine whined, the RPM’s jumping as it began pushing the other vehicle out of the way. The air was filled with the sound of metal crunching interspersed with shouting, commands to stop coming in multiple languages as several guards poured out of the small gatehouse.
“Go, Antonio! Go!” Sebastian shouted, reaching over to roll the window down just far enough for him to stick the barrel of his gun out and squeeze off three shots.
