I went to two different shows in the past couple of days. The first one was Ed Sheeran, he played his first ever arena tour in Belfast and let me tell you this that guy is super talented. He stands on that stage in front of 10,000 people, completely alone, and uses his loop pedal to do his harmonies, snare ect, it's mind blowing, he put so much effort into it and he explains exactly what he's doing too, like a little tutorial. Super clever. So much respect for that guy and he's only 21, just brilliant! I'm a huge supporter of him.
Then the second gig I went to was last night- I went back to Belfast to see More than Conquerors. And here's the thing by the way, I'm from Northern Ireland, I live close enough to Belfast and this whole Fleg crisis shite... there was this stupid "Operation Stand still" going on in the city and in return then "Operation Sit In" and everyone decided not to go out to see MTC and the other bands because it was too dangerous and the roads would be swamped with rioters and police vans and blah blah blah blah, "They're turning the electricity off in the city centre" and "They've got the water canons out" Let me tell you this, me and my friend drove up and down and we saw not one rioter, one police officer, not one disturbance... the worst thing that happened all night was when a guy knocked into me by accident during the gig and put his arm around my shoulder and said "Oh i'm really sorry are you okay?" to which I replied "Yeah, i'm totally grand, don't worry about it." So we went and we saw a bunch of bands and More than Conquerors (who I adore and totally kicked ass by the way) and as it turns out not everyone from Belfast is a wanker, we're not all politically retarded scabs and in the midst of this silly crisis we all rally and have an awesome time. I love where I live, it's home and we have some brilliant brilliant musical talent.
