Today–March 2nd, 2017–marks three years since the premiere airing of ‘The Walking Dead’s’ Daryl Dixon and Beth Greene-focused episode of “Still” a.k.a. the “STILLiversary.” It is STILL my most favorite episode of the series and not just because it features my two favorite characters on the series. It is because it is gorgeously filmed with so many meaningful aspects and occurrences, yet it is all handled in such a beautifully subtle manner. None of it is forced and all of it is genuine and honest with such superb acting to boot. The amazing chemistry and undeniable attraction between these two characters shine so intensely in this episode and took so many viewers by surprise.
I created these two new photo edits☝🏼in observance of this important occasion. The one on the left features four Instagram posts–two from Emily Kinney and two from Norman Reedus–that are related to making the episode and the actual broadcast of it. To make sure this is known, I have included the dates next to each photo in the edit. Obviously, the fourth Instagram post from Norman is much more recent, but it reflects my overall caption for this edit which is essentially a play on words–“STILL love from #normily on Instagram.” It can mean two different things: first, these four posts from EK and NR convey the joy that they shared from making the episode together, their love for and pride in the episode itself, and the great affection and respect they have for each other–🎈"Normily"🎈–all displayed on social media for their followers to see. Norman’s most recent post (from December 2016) is what gives the edit’s overall caption its second meaning in that he STILL has love for “Still” after all this time has passed since he shared the photo of it on TV in the course of the marathon of TWD that he was obviously watching at the time. And the scene that he shared was such a pivotal and significantly romantic Bethyl one too–the iconic “backwards hug” that was felt all over the fandom. Emily replied to his share of this post on his Twitter with a “☺️” emoji on her own Twitter. So she obviously feels the same way. Ahhhh… let those warm and fuzzy Normily feels commence! 💕😌💕
As for my second edit creation above, I wanted it to have the look of an old candid snapshot with a vintage-y exposure… Beth and Daryl’s picture being taken while they weren’t even aware of it. Much like they weren’t aware of just how much they would eventually need each other to survive. The fingerprint on the lower right corner of the picture is like a thumbprint that would be left behind from someone holding a glossy photo as such. And there are also two hearts within the thumbprint image… meaning that Beth and Daryl inadvertently left indelible fingerprints on one another’s hearts. I also picked a font for labeling the frame/edge of the “snapshot” that would look like casual pen scrawl. I really do like the simplicity of this one.
Have a meaningfully reflective and blissful “STILLiversary,” Bethylers! Let the epic love of these two keep you warm and hopeful. ❤️
