I know you aren't watching 6b, but how does Scott feel about the possibility of his mom getting hurt because of everything that happens in Beacon Hills? Tell us about how protective he is over her.
10/10 will always talk about the mccalls >> @stillprettyhot
Let me make one thing SUPER clear – Scott has no intentions of burying his mother until it’s because she’s old and whithered and lived to be a thousand and gets to meet her one day grandkids. That’s very important. She deserves grandkids. And happiness. And a day off. Not in that order.
Honestly I’ve thought about this a lot because it’s always been really powerful to me that Melissa’s initial reaction is the same one many of us fear when we come out to our parents. Part of the reason I relate so much to Scott is because Melissa is a lot like my mom ( Rafe is nothing like my dad was but you know that’s better xD ). She’s strong and powerful on her own and yet she’s still human. When Scott first reveals himself she’s shocked. She’s scared. She’s a little hurt that he didn’t just tell her about what was going on. And she doesn’t have an initial positive reaction. THAT’S GOOD. THAT’S A GOOD THING.Because the day she hugs him and tells him it’s all ok is even more powerful.
Scott never wanted his mom to be in harm’s way. He truly tries to keep her out of everything, but being the true alpha means that he will always have someone on his tail. And Melissa is a fighter. She is every part strength and courage and bravery. She is no parts weakness but she is everything kind and soft a mother should be at the same time. Like I said, she deserves only the best. Which is why it destroys Scott the most when something happens to her. It’s going to happen to everyone else – but not his mom. Kill him, but leave Melissa alone.
At the same time, part of what he looks up to in her is her ability to heal. I always go back to that scene when they rush Danny into the hospital to get the wolfsbane out of him in season 3 and Melissa just slaps some gloves on and does the thing no questions asked. Scott’s face is full of so much awe and inspiration. He was 100% the kid growing up who loudly proclaimed I WANT TO BE MY MOMMY WHEN I GROW UP and he really still is. So while it destroys him to watch her get hurt because she’s protecting the pack, he wouldn’t have it any other way. She drives him. At the end of the day, she’s given him the strength to be his own anchor. Or to find a new one. Or damn just to be his anchor.
But I dare someone be the person who takes her away from him and face the wrath of the true alpha ( and his human best friend tbh ). There are many things worse than death.
