“Yes, I draw the line at zombies, Scott. The closest to zombies we have is Peter and he’s technically not a zombie… just a creep,” Stiles pointed out, sighing as he tossed his controller onto the couch. He clearly wasn’t going to be allowed to get back to his game. “Scott… we’ve talked about this. I know we have. And you know that I, of all people, am as pro zombie apocalypse ideas as the next guy, but in reality it’s just not possible.”
Rolling his eyes, Stiles grabbed his phone and pulled up the news sites he frequented. “First of all, the first reports of this said nothing about people coming back from the dead, Scotty. Just that a bunch of people were standing around like some sort weird peaceful protest but no one knew what it was for,” he pointed out, showing him the news reports he’d bookmarked. While he didn’t buy into the zombie thing, he had been following the reports because… who the hell knew these days. He wouldn’t put out some sort of mind control by a powerful magic user. “Because if they did come back from the dead… they’d be useless. No working circulatory or respiratory system? No oxygenated blood moving to the muscles, no movement. They’d be in various stages of rigor mortis. No working endocrine system? No hormones, no Leptin, no hunger. Look, zombies are one of the coolest concepts, dude, but they’re just… not biologically possible.”
He glanced at the TV as it played the footage over and over, frowning slightly. That was new, but still, didn’t prove zombies. “Dude, you remember the bath salts guy? Everyone thought he was a zombie. High off his fucking rocker trying to eat someone’s face and growling at cops. Took five shots to take him down. Not a zombie, just someone who fucked his own brain into oblivion.”
“Bath salts aren’t contagious, though! And this is spreading! It started in Mexico and it’s crossed the border. It’s moving,” Scott insisted, annoyed that Stiles was being so damn stubborn. “A cop ate a nurse, dude. Maybe, maybe, they aren’t actual back-from-the-dead zombies, but they’re not all just high.”
He knew Stiles’ reasons for being anti-zombies, as the other teen had said, it was something they had discussed more than once, but Stiles was being stubborn and it was annoying Scott. “Something fucked up is going on, and at the rate it’s spreading it won’t be long until Beacon Hills is caught up in it, too.” The thought of that frightened him, he didn’t want the world to actually be ending, but he refused to stick his head in the sand and ignore what was going on. After everything they’d been through, a zombie apocalypse would not at all surprise him, regardless of Stiles’ staunch denial of it’s possibility.
