If US liberals are really so upset that there are people out there who consider Republicans and Democrats to be fundamentally the same, maybe they ought to be talking to their actual Democratic representatives for doing shit like this:

Bernie Sanders and a few progressive Democrats tried to force a vote on upping the survival checks to $2000 by refusing to vote on the defense spending bill. This, by the way, is the actual bill full of the “pork” everyone was complaining about. The stimulus package was a part of the spending bill - the military budget, the foreign aid, the weird shit about the Dalai Lama was all in the defense spending bill, not the stimulus package.

So anyway Bernie and friends were trying to be like “no military money and no New Years parties until the people get their money.” You know, that money that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi were claiming to support giving to us? And acting like Republicans were the only ones in the way of that? Well as it turns out, more senate Democrats than senate Republicans voted to fuck over Bernie’s plan and push through the defense bill with the billions upon billions dedicated to dropping bombs on civilians and overthrowing any democratically elected government any time they get a whiff of socialism or a desired natural resource.

So will you be getting $2000? No, you will not.

I’m honestly sick to death of the whole argument over whether the Republicans and Democrats are the same or different because the answer is that both things are true. Democrats are obviously different on many key issues that matter, including abortion and other human rights issues.

But when you look deeper, you find that both parties are dedicated to keeping our bloated, bloodthirsty military fed and protecting their own wealth and power. Democrats might be able to attract some decent individuals, but in the end their leadership is dedicated to the status quo and beholden to their corporate masters, just like the Republicans.

Meanwhile, families are evicted from their homes, millions wait in food bank lines, and 350,000 are dead from COVID-19. And the bombs keep falling.

Who controls the US senate doesn’t matter much to the dead.

Anyways, if you’re a U.S college student and you’re pissed off about not being included in the stimulus bill then make sure you register to vote and show up in November to vote out the assholes who decided we weren't worth helping
