miriam is po3, audrey is grimora, eyala is magnificus, and kiwi is leshy

more thoughts under the cut (inscryption spoilers, also serious warning for... fucked up things. everyone is traumatized)

kiwi as leshy: it's easy for them to cover up their coping methods because they've been stuck in this game and horrible role for so long. and with their photography/songs, they give the player a way to stay alive forever. they're technically not killing anyone, and it is a game after all!

everything's fine, they say as they continue this eternal game. it'll be fun! come on, try to beat me! wait, not like that!! (cheats) i'm sorry, i really want to win...

miriam as po3: acts emotionless and pissed, but deep down inside she doesn't want this either. as the stoat, she is the first other friendly face besides leshy that you see in the game. so of course she's your companion from the beginning. she helps you defeat leshy/kiwi for once and all. maybe she and kiwi were even friends once, but... for some reason, kiwi trapped her here. as the most adorable animal, a stoat! (...technically, we could change the animal here too. technically. i like stoat though)

it's not personal, she thinks. it's just business as usual. we're all stuck in this awful game anyways. might as well make it easier on you. but not that easy, dumb.

eyala as magnificus: she does the absolute worst to her previous heroes. impress me, she says! impress me! do all these absurd things... maybe i'll immortalize you in my paintings. i love you so much! and she doesn't understand what that love is... so she tries to keep everything alive by painting it and by completely scarring her other heroes beyond all recognition. we don't get to see magicus's playstyle much, but i think the high-in-the-sky aspect of it... that suits eyala so much.

sacrifice yourself for me! and maybe i'll acknowledge you...

audrey as grimora: how funny it is that she's a HARBINGER of death in this game! indeed, grimora's lightning motifs... and all the graves, epitaphs... they suit her here. she will absolutely love helping the player, and of course she tries to kill po3/miriam in the end, under eyala/magicus's devious plan. the ultimate betrayal!!!! wow who wouldathunk it!

the only thing is... we don't want any actual deaths in this au, right? it'd be nice to keep miriam alive. and that's where kiwi comes in! they really don't want ANYONE to die... so maybe they save her! wouldn't that be poetic?

audrey fumes upon being double-crossed. why are these two so close?! what do they have that i don't???? i kept them apart! ME! play chess with me!!!! choose ME! zombies are cool!
