Someone posted a slowed down version of some of the exchanges of Aspinall-Blaydes 2 and it got people talking about a mythical Aspinall-Miocic or Aspinall-Velasquez match up.

Genuinely surprised people out there are affronted by the idea that a prime Cain or Stipe could/would beat Aspinall. Like I think he's probably the best HW out there now (though I wouldn't be surprised if Ngannou beat him), but it's 2025 and HW is worse than it has ever been. He's well rounded enough to be a solid offensive wrestler and deadly striker. He's fast and powerful enough to be a striking threat despite his deficiencies. And he's a big dude. But that's really it. I don't see a deep technical game. I don't think he's a uniquely earth shattering puncher like an Ngannou. He definitely does not have a gas tank of a Cain. And he doesn't have a particular skill he can go to where I think he'd be able to fall back on if he got into a tough fight.

I think it gets to this idea that fighters just get better as time goes on because that's what is supposed to happen in sports. But I don't look at contenders like Diego Lopes or Renato Moicano and think - damn they're better than Gilbert Melendez or Mark Hominick or KZ.
