Haute Days: Sunset Brunch @ STK, September 18th, 2011
4:00PM: Meatpacking District
It's Sunday and the week has been so raucous its starting to wear down on me. I'm exhausted and I gulp down a red bull as I walk towards STK. I probably should be sleeping or watching football right now, but I know that were only going to have a month more of rooftop brunching left if were lucky. So I'm going to man up and keep going.
I have a great group of intelligent sexy ladies meeting me at my boy August's table. I don't typically fraternize with other promoters but he's a really cool guy. Him and the rest of his team are hilarious and I always have fun partying and joking with them.
It is an absolute perfect day for this. I don't regret forgoing football and sleep whatsoever. The crowd is a lot more into it this week. Girls are standing on chairs and table dancing. There are champagne bottles being popped and french toast being consumed all around me.
My friend Selasi (one of August's team) and I joke around and talk about just how crazy our lives really are. Most people would have no idea these kind of parties are going down on a Sunday afternoon. Nor would they be able to get in without dropping a couple G's. Yet here we are sucking down vodka surrounded by beautiful women and socialites. It really is surreal sometimes.
A magician Kevin Nicholas has a crowd growing around him as he amazes them with card tricks. The vibe is awesome and I meet some great new people. Enjoy the photos!!
Haute Days: Sunset Brunch Kick Off Party @ STK, September 11th, 2011
4:00 PM: Meatpacking District
Sunday's are usually one of my off days and I like to take the opportunity to check out different parties and network. This week was the debut of the new Sunset Brunch party at the new STK Rooftop in MPD.
I had covered this party at it's previous location at Sky Room in midtown. I had some epic times there and I was curious to see if the debaucherous atmosphere that they had created at Sky Room, would translate to a more high end venue such as STK.
Let me first say that the space is absolutely gorgeous with an amazing view of the river. The crowd is really pretty, they have several model promoters I have seen at other high end venues with packed tables full of beautiful women.
The food is definitely upgraded with the full resources of the restaurant STK at its disposal.
The vibe is definitively a lot more calm than Sky Room though the music was still on point with a nice mixture of hip hop and pulsing house beats.
I would say it felt like someone had taken the crowd out of an venue like Avenue or SL on a mid week night and put them on a rooftop on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I had to leave relatively early, so there may have been more dancing going on after I left.
I just hope the weather holds up and the party can hold on into October as the temperatures are sure to drop soon. It's nothing a few heat lamps couldn't solve though. I will definitely be returning next week. Contact me if you want to join me.
