E V E R Y B O D Y E A T S Tonight, Samir Allen of Gemmayze St is leading his team in preparing the 3-course meal for everybody who turns up. In return, diners pay what they can afford. Founder Nick Loosley has been utilising rescued food from Kiwi Harvest and Eastridge New World and many food donors. Tonight’s menu is: spiced carrot soup with chickpeas + sourdough; braised sausages, potato mash & onion gravy or vege fritata, plum sauce, potato mash & brassica salad. Dessert is chocolate & peanut butter cheesecake with oat crumble. The queue of diners stretch out out St Kevin’s Arcade and the Everybody Eats crew of volunteers would end up feeding over 300 people. Uncle is so moved by this no food waste community initiative; so is dining companion Grant Allen. We spot volunteers Greig Buckley and partner Catherine Smith serving meals continuously from the busy kitchen. We applaud them and all the volunteers.
