@stlispenard dr. mohan sent: it's starting to get to me
she tilts her head to the side as she looks towards the other woman, brows knitting in concern. samira is the kind of doctor mel has always wanted to be. the kind of doctor she likes to surround herself with. this is, perhaps, one of the best medical environments she has ever stepped foot into. there are more good staff than bad ( if she is honest, it's a rarity in their line of work. perhaps any line of work, really ). ❝ burn out in emergency medicine is...it's very real, ❞ she nods thoughtfully. there is a pause before she turns to face samira more fully. her lips press together, making a face as she considers the words rolling inside her head. she thinks about the reassurances she has needed. she thinks about every kind word, every bit of encouragement she has been offered which she has stored away in her memories. sometimes, she writes them down in a journal to read over on the bad days. it's not numerous, but it's enough.
❝ you know, i've admired you—your work. you know, you work ethic a-and bedside manner. i've learned a lot from you on our cases together. ❞ she offers her a small smile. ❝ i-i don't know if that helps. but you're really good at this...and it's okay to get overwhelmed. doesn't make you any less good. ❞ she nods and fidgets with the hem of her jacket-sleeve. ❝ is it...anything in particular that's getting to you? or just...everything. ❞
