I don't go here but before Tommy and Carol actually get together, she fools around with both Tommy and Steve (usually when they're all together) and she tells them that if either of them want to fuck her, they have to fuck each other first.

They're both just desperate enough to agree, so they flip a coin to see who ends up on bottom, and it's Steve.

The whole experience kind of changes his life a little, because- he really likes it. Even Tommy telling him "God, Steve, you sound like such a girl right now with all that whining" only makes him more into it.

After, they each get their turn to fuck Carol (after Tommy washes his dick, at Carol's demand) but after being fucked, for Steve it's just... Okay. He hopes that maybe after this they might become a little triad, the three of them together, but Tommy asks out Carol and they actually become official, a clear division between them and Steve.

Steve is kind of upset about it, but he lets it be, and goes out with a few girls until he sees some crude graffiti about Eddie Munson scrawled across one of the bathroom stalls. And maybe he's just desperate enough to be fucked again that he takes the risk of asking.

(He doesn't expect to come out of the scenario with a new boyfriend, but he's not going to complain. Especially because said boyfriend fucks him even better than Tommy did.)
