SILENT BARRIERS [THE GREAT BARRIER] (1937) 27 x 41" (68 x 102 cm.) one sheet style B stone litho poster, USA. Richard Arlen, Barry MacKay, Roy Emerton, Lili Palmer, dir: Milton Rosmer; Gaumont British Picture Corp. of America. The epic grandeur of locations at Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada, and areas of British Columbia (with studio photography done in London) served as a backdrop for this story about the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway during the 1880s. American star Richard Arlen was featured and Lili Palmer would grow in prominence during the 1940s. Epic art with a focus on the beefcake on this rarely seen poster is by Fred Kulz, an American illustrator who worked from the early twentieth century through the 1930s.
