The truth is, nothing is ‘pure’. Everything is the product of something else. To name something ‘pure’ is to pretend it has no history, nothing before it, which is obviously false.

Ideas scrapped during the making of Universe Travelers
If you don't know what Universe Travelers is (and the vast vast majority of people don't)
it's a project that started from a series of comics I made when I was 11. The digital format was made inYou can read it here if you want: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/31370964/
A lot of it still isn't great admittedly. If I could start completely over, I would. Please excuse the bad writing, occasional visual errors, repetitive music loops, and the fact that quite a few of the characters have zero personality to speak of. I'm actually kind of proud of chapters 6-8 at least. But it could be worse I suppose.
Here's some of the stranger ideas that got scrapped:
Finished stonewielder :)
True pure evil, Assessor, is a waste. It is the blunting of potential, the cutting off of a person's or a people's promise, or options, for development. It is, emblematically, the death of a child.

Borun: My reading of Yeull is that he is many things, but no fool. High Mage, he is a frightened man. Something has happened. Something that terrifies him. And he has called us to him.
Ussu: I only wish I could share your... faith.
Borun: Faith? It is an estimation. A bet, if you will. Everything is a gamble.
Ussu: Really? Everything? What of those who do not gamble?
Borun: Those who do not gamble do so betting that terrible things will eventually happen to those who do.
A new voice rumbled from the deeper gloom within the alley. The four spun. Eight blades glittered in the starlight. A figure moved closer and the faint silver light revealed a huge shape, unnaturally tall and wide...
First man: Whoever you are, stranger, turn round now and walk away. Listen to me. I'm giving you this one chance.
Manask: As you can see turning around is out of the question for me. You'll have to back out yourselves.
First man: Are you a fool? Can't you see?
Manask: Yes I can - better than you, I suspect. As to being a fool... no, I am a thief.
Second man: A thief? How could you possibly steal anything?
Manask: Oh, that's easy. Like this, *leans forward, lowering his voice* Give me your money.
First man: You're trying my patience.
Manask: No. I'm trying to take your money.
Truth tellers were never welcome; especially one’s own. Better to be a storyteller – they at least have grasped the essential truth that everyone prefers lies.
