Rant/Sort of Review Chap. 7
I see a lot of people actually criticizing Sarada and her anger at her parents and I am so baffled by this.
For a second, just forget your SS feels and the fact that Sauce acknowledged Sakura as his ‘wifey’ and that Sarada should be ‘grateful’ for her mother’s love. Just forget all that for one goddamned minute and put yourself in Sarada’s shoes.
Sarada is twelve years old. TWELVE FUCKING YEARS OLD! She has never met her father, or really known anything about him (cause wtf Sakura apparently doesn’t even know that he didn’t wear glasses???) until this day. She finds a strange picture in which she resembles another woman (and yes SS...she does sort of resemble Karin and it’s not just the glasses). Is it really so strange for her to start questioning her parentage when she doesn’t even know her father and her mother is flippin useless in terms of giving her any satisfying information? No, I don’t think so. Not at all.
So Sarada goes and finally meets her father (after being attacked by some freaky onion boy) and finds out that he’s kind of a cold asshole, nothing new to us readers but completely opposite from what Sarada was expecting, as she really had no idea WHAT to expect. All she knew was from what she had seen the fathers of her friends do. She saw that they were affectionate and loving and that was what she was expecting from her own father. She did not get that. Instead she got a sword in her face. I’m sure THAT came as a shock to a little girl who just wanted a hug from the father she had never met.
Now, after she has finally explained who she is to the man she’s never met, Sasuke treats her rather coldly. He won’t answer her questions and instead brushes her off, preferring to talk to Naruto instead about his stupid ass mission, who he’s apparently kept in contact with over the past twelve years. \
Sarada, fed up, storms off because what CHILD wouldn’t after a reunion like THAT?! She’s not getting the answers that she desperately needs or the warm welcome she had always dreamed about. Again, Sarada is a child. She’s twelve goddamned years old. That means, in our world, she would only be in fucking 6th grade. Were you emotionally and mentally mature at that age? Somehow, I highly doubt it. So why are your standards of maturity different for Sarada?
Anyway, after being brushed off by her father and having to be comforted by NARUTO instead, they are attacked by the onion squad and her mother shows up to ‘save the day’. However, again, Sarada receives a rather vague answer to her questions, Sakura simply saying that she ‘meant to have a heart to heart’ with Sarada......WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN SAKURA?! A HEART TO HEART ABOUT FUCKING WHAT?! JUST SAY IT!!!!
And, of course, Sakura gets kidnapped and poor Sarada is left with no answers AGAIN.
Now, this chapter, Sarada is dragged to fucking creepy ass Orochimaru’s lair (why the hell isn’t this psycho in fucking jail yet?! wtf are you doing Naruto?! what even is the legal system in this world?!) and Sarada is essentially ignored, albeit she is tossed a few glances from Sasuke, but is otherwise forgotten while Orochimaru explains everything that Sasuke’s been trying to find out for twelve years in 5-6 pages!
Sarada, finally taking matters into her own hands after being ignored, brushed off, and otherwise placated, goes to Suigetsu for help (not exactly the most reliable source of aid but...did she really have any other choice at this point???)
And then, the big reveal...sort of. Karin is apparently Sarada’s mother (Yeah, right. I’m sure they’ll be some grand explanation for this BS later...) and that’s it. Sarada’s entire world crumbles around her ears. This poor twelve year old girl, who JUST wanted to know her father and get some questions answered, who has been jerked around from this place to that place and getting attacked every few minutes, has finally reached her limit. And she’s had it.
What SS needs to realize is that Sarada is a confused LITTLE GIRL who has been left in the dark for waaaay too long. Children have questions at that age and to leave them unanswered or to basically ignore them and hope they’ll go away is completely asinine. Because they won’t go away and eventually they’ll just build up until the child explodes, like we saw at the end of 700+7. I guarantee if Sakura or Sasuke had just answered her damn questions to begin with, this drama would not be unfolding now.
Anyway, I just felt the need to address this because SS (mostly from what I’ve seen) are obsessing over the ‘perfect SS fam’ but that’s not how it is. SS is dysfunctional and if you say it’s not then you are in complete and utterly frightening denial. Stop trying to integrate fanon with canon cause that’s just not how it is. Sasuke is not the lovey dovey cuddle bug daddy that SS wants him to be and Sakura isn’t the freaken supermom that SS wants her to be. They’ve both been pretty crappy parents (Sasuke way more than Sakura obviously) and neither are what fanon portrays them as.
Just remember SS, Sarada is a child and just because she calls out your OTP on their bullshit doesn’t make her ‘ungrateful’, ‘spoiled’, or ‘bratty’. It makes her a justifiably angry TWELVE YEAR OLD!
