y’all really out here being negative about that little interview when we all know supercorp is endgame season 5
I’ll tell you what, though, I’m excited
Why? Sure, we’re all curious about Viktor’s backstory etc., but there’s something else.
Seeing Viktor skate.
This was a thought that occurred to me quite a while ago, actually. If you think about it, we’ve never actually seen Viktor skate.
Let me explain - you see, we’ve seen Viktor skating a bunch of times in the anime. Most notably, of course, Stammi Vicino. Which is, essentially, one of the most beautifully animated sequences of the entire anime. So let’s break it down.
The series literally opens on Viktor skating. However, it’s not really a routine, it’s a mini montage that Yuuri narrates over.
Of course, during the OPs, then again, it’s not really a routine at all, and he’s not alone.
Briefly this, but there’s no music, and Yuuko is talking over the scene
Of course, this absolute work of ART
And obviously the glory that was the exhibition
Note that I am skipping out a couple of training scenes with Yuuri and Yurio for sake of too many screenshots, but they still apply to this
Not once, in our current canon, have we seen Viktor Nikiforov in a full, uninterrupted routine
I’m not counting Stammi Vicino, because the routine wasn’t ABOUT Viktor’s skating, it was far more about Yuuri. Which is fair enough, because he’s our protagonist. We see Yuuri and the other characters skate, so that we can fall in love with them, get inspired, just like we do with real skaters.
But it’s a little odd, right? We hear so much from Yuuri and others about how great Viktor is, a living legend. But we’ve never actually seen it. And that’s why we need this movie.
To fully understand Yuuri, to deepen our understanding of his character and relate to him, we need the chance to fall in love with Viktor too, in the same way he did. Through skating. So, that’s why I’m so excited for this movie, because finally, we get to see the legend skate.
Don't worry about being too personal, love. It's your blog, after all and i truly don't mind💓
yeah but i feel like i’m complaining every other day and i don’t want that to be my image. i want to be known for my writing, my love of my friends, and my chaotic, upbeat attitude;
good thoughts, good words, good deeds
shitty when u get just fucked up enough that u say what ur thinking without revising and editing and u end up saying 5 million negative things
Real Talk
When are people going to stop saying Yuri!!! On Ice is queerbait lol
keeping a net word count is funny when you're the type to yeet most drafts into the abyss
