The Tennessee Valley Authority wants to build an expensive methane gas plant and 32-mile pipeline to replace the retiring Cumberland coal plant, even though there are reliable, safer and more affordable ways to produce electricity that TVA could choose instead. These plans would line the pockets of gas-giant Kinder Morgan at the expense of local electric bills and the potential to create 20-30x more permanent jobs with renewable alternatives. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission just released a draft environmental review discussing the potential impacts of the pipeline and citizens have a limited opportunity to provide input. Please add your comment to tell the commission that Middle Tennessee does not need a new gas pipeline or the risks that come with it, including threats to drinking water, prime farmland and important ecological habitat. If you are a local landowner, please consider drafting your own comment to make sure the Commission understands your unique concerns.
