Minority Report

Lying in bed and I am heartbroken, angry and confused to say the least. Two men killed, a day apart by the police and there are people that still do not see what the big deal is, still do not fully understand why certain communities do not like the police and they are still unable to grasp the fundamentals of the Black Lives Matter movement. As a society we were given a front row seat to the injustice that minority's face everyday at the hand of the police 25 years ago when the LAPD was caught on camera beating Rodney King. I'm sure that back then no one would have imagined things could have gotten this out of control. Minority parents are literally going to have to start raising their children to be conscious of every move they make, young men and women of color are going to have to look over their shoulders at every turn; that is no way to live. The hard reality is that no matter what anyone posts or says this is never going to change. The people with the power to influence and make the change do not want to disturb the peace. A disruption of the peace would mean that you are accepting responsibility for your actions or lack of action. A disruption of the peace would mean that you care about the lives, families and communities that you are terrorizing. A disruption of the peace would simply be admitting wrongdoing on your part. But hey, what do I know? I'm just minority. A woman with a beautiful caramel complexion that's been pulled over twice because I "fit the description." I worry about my father, brother and nephew everyday because you never know if they're going to run into a cop that's just "doing his job." Danielle❤️

First of all, I want to say that it warms my heart to see a community join hands and help for a better tomorrow.

People are being judged, bullied, and hated for something they were born with, something they cannot change, and something I think they should be damn proud of. It isn’t right, it isn’t fair, and most imporantly, it isn’t at all necessary. People are starting to realize that it is time for change - not only here, but across the world. More people are speaking up against racism and joining us in hope to have some actual equality on this goddamn planet, and I can’t begin to explain how amazing it feels to know that, together, we are making such an impact.

Ancestors of yours suffered with brutality and slavery and inequality for too long. They fought to have what was rightfully theirs, and we planted a worldwide facade of “equality for all” to shut the world up.

I believe, with technology being so prominent today, we can spread the word to more. We can fight back with more force and get things to actually change. Your grandparents’ fight will not be in vain. Justice will be served, that poor excuse for a human being will be locked up for good, and we will give you true freedom.

Why?

Because it’s what you fucking deserve, after all of that violence and disgrace to innocent people who were dragged into this mess because people can’t seem to grasp the simple ideas of kindness and love for all.

Anyone who thinks differently can go fuck themselves. And I am so sorry for what people have said and done to you. It’s common and the norm, and it shouldn’t be. Right now, there are at least 10 people being harrassed for their color. And that, frankly, is complete bullshit.

I am caucasian, I am sorry for everything, and I want you to know that I love and care about you. Truly.

Officer Darren Wilson has been cleared of charges by a grand jury. So what happens now?

Most likely: Mike Brown’s family will will a wrongful death suit against Wilson and the Ferguson police department. The suit would include the fact that Brown’s body sat in the street for four hours after he was killed.

Another possibility: The U.S. Department of Justice can bring charges against Wilson, who’s already the subject of two federal investigations: one is the actual incident, and the other is a bigger look at Ferguson’s police department. Don’t hold your breath: it’s pretty unlikely the feds will go forward with charges.

And the least likely scenario: the state could also decide to bring charges. Wilson is the focus of an internal investigation at the Ferguson police department, and they could take his badge — But reports say he’s planning to resign anyway. Guess justice for Mike Brown is more of a slogan than a reality.
