Just an FYI (I don’t like people hating on Jack Champion in the new avatar film, the hate is unjustified)
As someone who has seen all three avatar films and been watching them her whole life, as well as someone who more than anything, WISHED she could’ve gotten the chance to become an actress like she wanted, he isn’t an inherently bad actor, people are forgetting he’s only 21 years old, he’s not as experienced as Zoe Saldana, or Sam Worthington, or Sigourney Weaver, because he hasn’t been acting as long, and that’s totally okay! Most actors at that age, aren’t amazing actors, especially right off the bat, most of them take a while to find their niche, and once they develop and gain the skills, experience and knowledge, they advance in their performances.
I’m seeing it all over my socials, everyone is saying how bad of an actor he is as spider, I think everyone is forgetting, he was 12-14 years old, and had to film it TWICE, once in performance capture, with everyone around him to actually feel the scene and the emotion and feed off of everyone else’s energy, and then once again TWO YEARS LATER, in live action, with no one else there to act infront of, that’s hard as an actor, especially a young actor, and it also probably doesn’t help that he was possibly copying the way he did his scenes when he was 12 in the mocap footage as well, for continuity so there was no issues with that.
It’s despicable to see so many people hating on him for one performance he filmed when he was a child with no a lot of acting experience, am I saying he’s amazing? No, but he definitely has the talent to go places and needs to advance his craft a bit more, 100 percent, but he isn’t a bad actor, not inherently, he’s shown he has some acting skills, in scream 6, for a 17-18 year old kid at the time of filming? I quite enjoyed his performance, he did a decent job for how young he was, all of the other films I’ve too seen him in, such as freaky tales and trap house, not amazing films, but his acting in them is showing real promise, he’s getting better, which is what acting is about, evolving and learning and constantly changing the way you tell a story.
I’m seriously sick of it, it’s probably upsetting Jack champion a lot who is a very very promising actor and I’m sure, one day, will be winning some award and everyone will ‘love’ him and his acting, even the ones who are hating on him now because they don’t like spiders character, who, I think, is a great character, I’ve liked him since I saw the Way of water in theatres when it had its original theatrical run in Australia. He’s always been a great character, sure his performance falls a little flat at times, but I can excuse that because he’s young, and I know as a youngster, who’s just breaking into the industry, he’s still learning!
