Demonstrators blocked the main road a couple of times despite a police dispersal zone being in place across a large part of the city centre waterfront.
A dispersal order, or dispersal zone, is when police mark out a certain area and provide officers with extra powers to be used regarding that area. They are a temporary measure and usually last 48 hours. They are made under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour and Policing Act 2014. No criminal offence is required, for an officer to decide an individual is about to commit anti-social behaviour and they must leave the zone. Their details are taken and if seen again in that zone in the time frame will be arrested and charged. Originally intended for youth anti-social behaviour, it is now a police tactic used at demonstrations and protests.

I joined the protestors at a demonstration against an arms fair here in Liverpool. Arms deals are big business and despite many companies claiming their weapons are 'smart' they kill thousands of civilians each year - or 'non-combatants' as they would like to call them.
