back at you!
" i just don't understand , " he is fully blocking the opening of @storiecraft's cubicle , personal space a complete non-issue for the man despite what his best friend might think. bil's thoughts are far from work , all the way over in clivesdale. fuck clivesdale ! and fuck his ex-wife for choosing there , of all places , to go. " it's supposed to be my weekend with alice , but noooooo , she just happened to buy tickets for new york too take her to see hamilton. hamilton , paul ! how am i supposed to compete with lin manuel-miranda ? " wounded eyes plead with paul to understand the severity of this , a personal attack against his very role as a father ! " i have half a mind to book myself a ticket to new york right now ! maybe-- " her purses his lips , a cautious slyness to the implication that surely his best friend will catch on to " -- two ? "
ziggs saw the whole showdown, down to the moment emma stormed out of the room and off to god knows where. they don't want to chase her down like she's some sort of damsel in distress. she'll need some time to cool off, so they give it a couple of hours before they find her in the room she's claimed as hers. teacher's pet got the first dibs and all that.
they knock a couple of times. ❝ it's just me, ❞ they say, voice just loud enough to get past the door. ❝ thought you could use this. ❞ they glance left and right down the hall before producing a bag with a joint inside, already rolled. all it needs is a light. they quickly slide it under the door. don't get them wrong, they'll gladly smoke with her if she wants the company. but they don't want to impose.
the whole ordeal was complete and utter bullshit. yes, she had been hooking up with ted, but there weren't any labels on it. it was also clear that she and paul were friends. so, ted's outburst? it had her wanting to crawl out of her own skin. she fucking hated this, and this shit was one of the many reasons why commitment had her 'flight' instincts roaring. too bad there weren't many places she could run off to around here. fuck.
she had retreated back to the atrium to cool off, shutting the double doors behind her. she knew ted could follow since he had been staying in here too, but she just needed a place to fucking breathe.
when she heard a knock at the door, she nearly protested before she saw ziggs standing there and heard their voice, a sigh escaping her lips as she watched @storiecraft slide the joints under the door. it caused the corner of emma's lips to twitch a little as she got up and walked over, bending over to grab the bag before opening the door.
" come in. smoke it with me, " she murmured before stepping aside to let them in. " i guess you heard all of that? whatever the fuck that was . . . "
@storiecraft liked for a yellowjackets muse!
jackie isn't stupid, she knows there's something going on with shauna - she knows her best friend far too well not to. and she also knows, for whatever godforsaken reason, it has something to do with tai. or, at the very least, tai is involved somehow. which - doesn't make any sense. since when are those two apparently the best of friends? since when does shauna keep things from her? since when does she tell taissa turner things that she doesn't tell her?
it's all these thoughts that are running through her mind as she hauls the water bucket back to the cabin - scowling almost instantly when she sees tai, of all people, lingering around outside. and before she can really think on it, she's setting the water bucket down - walking up to tai, crossing her arms over her chest. "okay, tai. what the hell is going on?" she asks and she wants to be petty enough to not add any context, but she also wants answers. "with you and shauna? because i know something is, don't try to act like it isn't."
@storiecraft asked: i don't want you to get hurt. / from laura lee for the hg verse?
" it's alright, " nat got out. a murmur of a grey, parched - rough little lie. " I'll take it slow, and we'll find some place to lay low. you just keep an eye on that clearing over there. "
it was a risk. out in the middle of the desolate glade, the cornucopia might as well have staged itself as a neon target, a bullseye for another bloodbath that the snowy outcrop of a scarp in the tree - dappled hillside shielded herself and laura lee from. but there were still scraps left over. half riffled - through packs, abandoned after the skirmish that'd stained the ground a stomach - turning rust red. basic medical supplies and tools, just as vital as the weighty crossbow nat wore, slung over her shoulder.
the bolts strapped to it weren't bullets, she reminded herself. but they shared the same formidable purpose: the taking of lives, all for the entertainment of the affluent and depraved masses. the infliction of violence, just to bolster the consolidation of oppression in the other districts. ( she had to wonder if, back in eight, her mother would be glued to the screen, same as everyone else. if, in her lonely, miserable existence, she'd even really considered the daughter she'd raised as hers, and not some unsung tribute. )
when she glanced to her left, natalie's throat quivered, tightening on the short, sharp breath she let loose.
laura lee didn't deserve that. none of them deserved to be here.
" we've just gotta stay quiet. noise means the others know we're around. "
❝ ahh, so you are taking pity on me, then? ❞ from jonathan
"C'mon, man, no. This isn't about pity at all." Dark brows furrow together, his hands shoved into the front pocket of his jeans and his shoulders hunched inwards. Danny isn't exactly a brick wall, but he's still trying to look as far from an asshole jock as he can for this.
"Look, I just wanna help. The rest of the Party are real worried, but their parents won't let them stay out late. Will's a good kid, I want to help you find him."
LIKED : 2-3 sentence starters / @storiecraft
featuring: joyce byers and jonathan byers
❝ why are you so quick to dismiss me! ❞ joyce will not accept it, that body in that room? that was not her boy. her will was still alive, she doesn’t know where… but he was out there. as a mother she could feel it, and it tears at her soul to think that jonathan was ready to give up. ❝ i am telling you, he is still out there! that… i don’t even know what that was, but it was not my boy. that was not your brother! ❞
that's fucking power.
melissa's words echo in her mind , an electric buzz that hums just beneath her skin. something heavy has settled in the pit of her stomach and she watches without seeing as the others take coach away. good. it's what he fucking deserves. how dare he pretend to be anything but what he is -- what they all are. everything with teeth bites.
i'm awed, impressed, and a little bit scared of you right now.
shauna blinks , @storiecraft's words slowly registering , pulling her away from her own sinking pit. a small smirk tugs at her lips as she turns her attention to tai. " yeah , well it needed to be done. "
and that's her job , right ? she does what no one else has the stomach to do , and then they look at her like she's a fucking monster. sometimes it feels like she's the only one who remembers the winter , but maybe that's because it took so much from her. the others , they get to pretend and play and act like it was miracles and their heroic spirit that got them through. it wasn't. it was shauna and her knife. fuck them. fuck all of them. especially coach scott.
" i can't believe anyone bought his bullshit for a second. he would have said anything to not be found guilty. "
